This is great advice. The fact is I have not worked a great deal with roles, profils etc and I just getting to know what providers are. 1. I have about 30 total users (max) 2. I have about 10 roles 3. SQL Server 2005 4. yes 5. No, when any page is access that has IsUserInRole, it is very slow 6. I am not overriding any function but thinking about it now. Something to note, this application was change from time to time so it also has old users which are about the same in numbers but obviously as upgraded the program, we created new users and the old ones are still in the database.

What basically the logic is right now, every page check for IsUserInRole and not just for one role. There are pages which can be accessed by two or three roles. If the user is in that role, he is allowed access otherwise not. It does not seem like that wasteful. But since IsUserInRole is slow, it needs to be made better. Ever page you visit is slow just because of it! So I can see now if I use cache even for single user, at least all the subsequent clicks will be faster.

I think I solved the problem. I introduced a hidden field that acts as a button which accomplishes the purpose.

I believe you can P/Invoke into most (all?) Fortran calls. Have you tried this? The Numerical Algorithms Group shows how to call their Fortran dll from C#[^], perhaps that will get you off to a good start. If this fails or doesn't work for certain calls, but you can access it via C++, you could write a C++/CLI (managed C++) dll that talks to the Fortran dll, then have your C# code talk to the C++/CLI dll. If you're trying to call a dll through p/invoke, best bet is to check that you go the pinvoke signature right. The problem was with my 64 bit windows (Vista). I have a couple of issue with it and this is one of them. The code runs fine on another machine (32 bit vista). Thanks for the help though.

It is in MSDN. Yes i did try the class diagram and it works there but as a previous VC++ user, I thought C# will provide the same functionality as well.

I will try it with a new test program to see if it works. Now apparentely the code should work because i am getting error from DLL not from native code. The client program basically does not find the necessary signature or entry point inside DLL. It does not reach the native code part at all. The DLL is just a wrapper of the native code. I will give it a try though and will let you know what happens.

I will try this code. I did try using the width function of the toolbar but that increased the width but did not wrap the buttions. I will use this approach now. I will update you how did it go.

I got your idea. But i am not sure if i can not do it the way i am doing it. That is derive my class directly from CToolBar. I think you are saying that derive my class from CControlBar, which has CMyToolBar class embedded in it which is more flexible. I would need CControlBar the way you described it as an option bar in my application which will be horizonal. My vertical bar needs not to be moved and will be fixed. Depening on which button you press in ver bar, the right option bar should show. It is more like adobe photoshop type application that i am trying to develop. You said i do not need step 2. That is using WM_SIZEPARENT. Is that what you really meant. Please explain a little. And thanks for the help. Mark
