  • Inappropriate ads?
    T Tom Deketelaere

 You get ads in that bar? I haven't seen an ad in that bar for a long time now, I still get ads elsewhere so I figured that was normal... Not complaining but maybe @chris-maunder wants to look into it ... (edit 1) hmm why is the @ thingy not working :( (edit 2) k now it did ... And the ad is back now ... Seems to be only on reply / edit messages or something that I get the ad in that bar On the forum itself I don't get it, nor on the home page (edit 3) so quick further testing, I sometimes get the ad on the forums but mostly I don't get it there. Doesnt' seem to be a server issue tho since I'm always on web02 right now I don't have the ad in the edit page (but did have it on edit 2) the add box is there tho, just empty the lounge never has it nor does the home page other pages seems to be a bit hit or miss (mostly miss) If you need more info / debugging let me know :)

on the (aptly named thread) Beyond strange[^] Marc's reply seems to be to a now deleted message? The author of the message is still an active account so it's not the account that got deleted (Slacker007 - Professional Profile[^]) Maybe the message itself got deleted? It makes the thread look a bit weird. Probably related (or equal? ) to this: Bugs and Suggestions[^]

  • People here using WinForms in .NET Core?
    T Tom Deketelaere

I made a small program in it recently (same thought process as you, figured I'd check it out). Aside from some weird issues with visual studio (buttons not being there, shortcuts not working (F5 for some reason doesn't work)) I haven't had any major issues or crashes. But I haven't done anything as "advanced" as you with it though, although I have a "export to pdf" feature in mind, I haven't had the time to implement it. For the moment it's mostly reading / writing to a json file and downloading a image from the web. (so nothing advanced) I'm also using the free visual studio one for that program (the community one) so I just blamed the weird stuff on that, but ...

Never again. I will walk away in the middle of a project before I do something like that again.

Been there, done that. It wasn't surveillance tho, a previous company wanted to use data for commercial reasons even tho the terms clearly stated that wasn't allowed. So I passed on that project, in the end the project never got released (and I knew that it wouldn't, there was no market for it) but still. And yeah, just as you, I'm lucky I can afford it as well, not everyone can.

Very strange Not an issue for me tho since my subscription doesn't include 4k and my tv is definitely not 4k ;p

Ah yes the joys of a new TV. I don't bother with the apps, I just hooked up my pc and watch netflix that way. (I think my tv is to old even for the netflix app, was originally there but it got removed... I think) It did take me a while to figure out why I was losing like 1 or 2 cm's of my screen tho when connected to the pc and playing something full screen. Turns out you have to set it to a specific input channel in order to properly display a full screen video from pc, can't remember the setting right now but if you experience the same thing let me know and I'll look it up :)

From the few times I'v had this problem I have noticed 2 things: - it only happens when you have monitors with different resolutions - it happens when you have the "scaling" or "zooming" (or whatever it is called) activated on one off your screens I'm not sure but I think the second one is the key one, or both need to be true. I haven't fully tested this tho since I rarely have this. But maybe it helps you out a bit :)

I wouldn't be so sure. For one off my previous jobs I had to write a program that calculates the thickness (not sure if that's the word) for glass so that it could support a given weight. When I asked the structural engineer about how to implement the formula for this, so a step by step calculation he replied: I have no idea I just enter the numbers in this program and it gives me the solution. So this structural engineer was entirely counting on a programmer (who I hope was counting on a actual structural engineer) somewhere.
