I used to be a staunch advocate of light themes, but a combination of extended viewing times, the Samsung G9 monitor (which is both incredibly bright, and almost panoramic, so your eyes are blasted from all angles) and increasing ocular migraines has led me to discover that depending on environmental light levels and equipment involved, dark themes can be a huge mercy. Turning the brightness down isn't enough, as you're dropping contrast / dynamic range. I think something like C# in VS looks prettier in the light theme, for sure, but the practicality and comfort of dark theme let me finally give it up.

The short story is that existing dashboard frameworks (that I could find) were geared toward providing the data presentation tooling, and we were looking for something that would primarily allow us to layout our data presentations of choice. So I built a container system that let us put any kind of web content from anywhere within a completely flexible layout. It ended up working across screen sizes of any kind and orientation even though it started as strictly a 1080p display. It was basically one big single page application using MaterializeCSS for navigation and styling. I used HighCharts, d3.js, plain-old HTML, and SVG for most of the data presentation.

Not really. It has only been around 4 years that I have discovered microbreweries in the places where I have lived. I traveled a lot from 2010 through 2015 (filled up the passport). I used to rely on giants of the industry and the popular ones in the city where I was. Then, one of the colleagues took me to a place where I saw bottles I had never seen before. I tried them and loved them. I was told these are from small breweries around the town. So, there is a very good chance that it is not really artificially carbonated. Also, they were more, well, fresher than assembly line beers. That day and now, I stick with micro-breweries. From past few months Bira 91[^] has been the choice. The primary (C drive) is already an SSD. I pulled the 1 TB secondary drive and replaced it with the 1 TB SSD myself.

I wrote my own one that uses / queries the gmail api. Has the features I want :) I need to modify it for my Windows Live mail though, my old notifier (Miranda IM doesn't seem to work anymore)

The old one had been in production for a long while. Users knew that it returned correct results but just took too much time to run. They got timeout messages from time to time. Instead of fixing it, it was easier and quicker to write a new one. TOMZ_KV

Honestly the list of talks looks heavily biased towards fondleslabs which I'm not particularly interested in.
