There must be a full moon, the Microsoft haters are out complaining again about VB. C# is a Microsoft product that was created less than 10 years ago about the same age some C# programmers behave. It was adopted into the .net framework which is by the way in VB land. While you C# code-cist, Microsoft haters enjoy Visual Studio, another tool in VB land there isn’t that much difference between any language except for its intended use and the implementation. I write C# and VB and many other languages to get the job done. Anytime I need to translate between these two languages I use a tool like the Telerike Convertor and find that the differences are very small. About as small as the issues that you bring up. But I have heard it all before, you have VB code examples that are very poorly done just like JavaScript. Maybe when you C# Microsoft haters have been around as long as VB then there may be some poor examples that will turn up as well. I have add enough of the rubberneckers in this forum and closing my account down.

TabletI tried working out what's best for me but too much marketing and different opinions. I want a device that my wife and 2 year old can use at home with Wi-Fi. Good camera for home shots of daughter, Internet access through Wi=Fi and some Apps downloads. Have desk top for everything else. Cheap unit because daughter doesn't play nice. any recommendations?

The VB StigmaPersonally I am happy with visual basic and no longer care about other languages struggling to make their mark. If you have a good look at what is growing in momentum is SQL Server. It is now powered by visual studio the home of visual basic that houses the other languages through .net. I believe that we will have to learn how to become DBA and learn SQL. If the power is given back to the DBA the only options coders will have are to drag a Data Object to a html 5 form and any code will just take away from what is supplied. Microsoft SQL Server just another tool in VB Land. Redundancy is another word for coders Duplication Redundancy Coders creating a service, coders creating forms to recreate the same code, who create code full of vulnerabilities and holes. Why not make and set the rules on the server and drag and drop away?

Mobile PhoneI decide to try my first text message and decided that I would try Skype because you get to use a big boy keyboard. So I type the message, I thought there was a standard but it seems that when I hit enter it sends the message, so when I look up I have sent 3 messages and very little else. So I try to stop the message but there is no stop, so I shutdown the program. Ha ha, I not so stupid, but I start Skype again and the first thing I notice is it trying to send these messages. Am I tight about the few cents to send these messages no; I’m embarrassed, so I see Skype is trying to send the message but not doing it. OK let’s look up help, ok I should check my credits, no credits, give all my credit card details but there is an extra step. Confirm, who I am, so I fill in the information, 3 attempts, not excepted. I give up but I still need to send this message. I hate mobile phones, so I go and ask my wife for her phone, tell her I want to send a text message, she asked what I had done with her husband. Wife starts the phone off and gets me to where I can now tap keys for my message, what the phone stop showing this screen why, because I the phone owner, for the moment didn’t get the choice to think for a moment before I type. That’s why people type so fast on these toys and can’t drive a car at the say time. All the resources have been transfer to a finger and that explains the brainless behavior, no wonder people die. So I start to type a message and I tap the wrong letter and that get’s annoying, so I think I’m smarter than a toy phone so I get a pencil, no way this won’t work either. I decide to take a breath and type slowly. No you cant type slowly, but then I start to type and the message starts to appear as tapped, then I make a mistake and it removes several letters, I throw the phone and it nearly hits the wife, there’s my husband, welcome back. So like most big business these things are design to make the user fail, Skype makes you pay because you are stupid, you don’t hit enter on a text message and what about the mobile phone a death trap and I should be able to decide how this phone works, if I take my time on a text message that’s my decision Google or does this decrease sales. I was right about these messages that say it’s the end to desktops, are you serous, you program these toys on a big boy machine. It’s like driving a model T to the future and say you’re smarter than everyone else. No Feedback needed, have fingers in ears and humming loudly little boys understand that spe

Am I Being Bullied by MicrosoftIs It Just Me Lately I get messages about my operating system that’s not that old, Server 2008 R2 that new software that I need to load isn’t supported by my operating system and that updating my operating systems means that I need to upgrade my computer to a 64 bit processor, the quote of $5,500.00 because I like grunt for my computer and upgrading my software is an expensive prospect. But that’s not all Now I hear from the top in Microsoft that Silverlight 6 won’t happen and all the development over the last few years was a waste of time and money on Web Development and that most of the technology will change. So all our development is only good for intranet and you can scrap half of that. There’s a whole heap of new technologies that I need to learn with windows 8 coming out and the programming language that I have invested into for years Visual Basic is now having reduced support after being told by Microsoft that they would continue to support the home language but now I’m hearing that if I want to continue with VB then I need to write games software. I don’t write games software and if I did then I would have to learn a lot more than VB to write game software. The Cross Road So what are my options? Maybe I should look at other Languages and Companies? Are they better with fewer problems? Maybe all VB programmers should consider jumping ship or adding pressure to Microsoft to honor their commitment to statements they make. Maybe letting one person make decision about the future and movement of development should not be decided by a few but by a steering committee. I’m feeling quite bullied at the moment, maybe I’m over thinking this?

Calling all vber’sI am sick and tired of the relentless bagging of the VB language by other languages. I hear it in your comments vber’s, well I know I’m writing in vb but? You’re given up demanding VB code examples be given and submitting to the blogs hate messages, VB is dead. Stop being brainwash by other languages that we are inferior. The other languages have come to VB land not us to theirs, those who deny us the vb code samples are other language leaders. The .net engine is designed to incorporate several languages into VB land not the other way round. The VB team has done a great job and we are better. Squiggly brackets is like the days when man ate with his hands, come on we have spoons and forks, catch up already. Some history Our VB King was the trailblazer that made the brand the best in the world and while you other languages gasp and you feel your blood pressure spiral, that’s how I feel every time I see negative comments about my language. But lets have a look at the success of the VB Hive since the integration, over ten years ago our VB King shook a tablet at us and told us that this was the future, but what happen since our king let other languages leaders to rule our code world! We have been scrabbling to keep up with everyone else. Under the C# watch we have miss major events, oh I don’t know like, mobile phones, the tablet just to name a major few. VB land under the King has change from leaders to followers under the C# leaders. VB land has grown to accommodate other languages and they have shaken their code bible at us for too long, telling us that they will dominate us to their language and beliefs. I see that C# is become the mess that JavaScript is with 100 ways to do the same thing, lesson here for the VB team don’t simulate. Be proud vber’s we are the indigenous coders and are the westernized world and not let third world languages make us feel bad to admit we are Vber’s

Why is VB being forsaken?I have been programming in VB for years and face the same concerns. Microsoft have said that VB and C# would join at some point and I have found that both Languages have many things in common and more so as time goes on. What both VB and C# programmers are facing is the many changes in technology as I believe Steve Jobs said he would be aggressive in all technology as we are in a technology overhaul and by having your teams in all technologies you should have a chance of staying in the technology race. Currently I have invested lots of time and money in Silver-light with no true understanding of which of these technologies will survive. Like VB I not sure that Silverlight will survive like many of the new product that seem to come weekly. I don’t think Microsoft can give us a clear answer to what will happen in the future as they too like us don’t know what the future holds.
