Hi Martin, Congrats on your new job.! * Build basic web pages I really like jEdit.org. Its not like FrontPage or anything(thank goodness) but it does support many plugins that help you whip out html(much as htmlkit but better imo). Also, for a free wysiwyg I dont know why you could not use Mozilla/Composer - at least to get you going. * Create banners/headings for said web pages The GIMP... * Edit audio to remove swearing, crackling etc.? Cant help you there. btw, to find others let google.com help you out! You might be surprised.... peace,pv

Shameless plug for feedbackGlad you asked! On the topical side, I'm using Chimera on an ibook and it all looks good from here. In fact it looks an awful lot like phpbb.org! I good one to emulate, i think. I downloaded the files and started working with them - pretty painless, thanks! - The MS Sql stuff did not work for me however - I switched my conn string to a connectionless that I use elsewhere without probs. I did not get too deep into it as I thot access was ok and this was just for fun. As I recall, it was a boolean prob of some sort. - Also, i prefer to use smpt-email. Which did not work. Again i did very little digging but it seems the emails were not being passed to the function - at the very least the were not making it thru the for in. BTW, you'll never know in either case if the e died, if you use cdont, or dont check the return of sendmail(). - I applaud you for using js over vb but wish the code were more modular/encapsulated. - I'd consider using xml for the config. - In fact if the whole thing used xml - i'd dig that! Other than that I found it quite satisactory - even better when you consider the price :) nice job, Paul

What's your longest variable name?Funny thread! Actually I worked with a guy who i'd consider a pretty good programmer but he always insisted on using these gawd_awful_long_fully_qualified_names - this is ASP not 3D, I'd think to myself. Anyway, during a code review a guy suggested he declare memory space for his var names. I spit coffee all over the conference table. priceless. ;P

Pearl Harbor DayA conservative replublican myself, I've wondered about this Bush - the president's son. His hot headedness/cavelier/cowboy attitude both frightens and discusts me(and i'm from Texas). In perilous/precarious times I'm not so much interested in partisan BS as I am the prez's capability to meaningfully assimilate complicated scerarios/data/theories/philosophies without pushing any pretty red buttons. I get the feeling his mom still ties his shoes, tho. But hey, we're still the greatest country/govt ever, so I'm hoping to kick him to the curb real soon ;) Good night, Paul “Peace can never be secured by threats, but only by an honest attempt to create mutual trust.”
