mmmmm I personally hate google adwords!, the fact that they are on nearly every website one visits these days really gets on my nerves. I have decided to stay away from them. That being said I did come across a few blog posts where some chaps were doing analysis of how profitable adwords were, where they were comparing cents per click between Google Adwords and Kanoodle, and Kanoodle won! Agreed. That's the most irritating thing about academic pontification about what's "wrong" with the software industry. These opinions are granted weight solely because they come from the academic community. These people have no experience producing commercial software. They propose solutions that are impractical and blithely ignorant of the realities involved. Some experience of the real world (say, 4-5 years in a cube and a few hundred thousand lines of code) might give them a better appreciation. Software Zen: delete this; Fold With Us![^]
