Just an addendum to this post. You should not use the /3GB switch if you plan on using more than 16 GB of RAM. After that size, the O/S needs the full 2 GB on the kernal side in order to properly map the addresses higher than 16 GB.

Is it good to use Vista ? -
Is it good to use Vista ?As far as I know, PAE is not used to modify the 2GB split between kernal and O/S, PAE is used to address memory ranges higher than 4 GB on 32 bit machines: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_Address_Extension[^] The /3GB switch is used to modify the 2GB split to 3GB for apps and 1GB for kernal. As far as the memory issue goes for the 3.xx cap on 32 bit machines, this also is explained through the way the 32 bit system works. A certain amount of addressable space must be reserved for video and other devices. This article by Crucial explains in detail http://www.crucial.com/kb/answer.aspx?qid=4251[^] Hope that helps - John

Buzzwords that tick you offGuru I used to like that word about 10 years ago, but now apparently everyone that knows WHAT something is, is automatically a Guru at it... annoys me

Salary HistoryI totally agree. Companies have no business knowing your previous salary. The only thing they need to be concerned with is what your current salary requirements are in order to get you on board at the company now. That whole game of "what did you make previously" I've only seen used by companies to make marginal increments on salary in the offer letter. What you made previously should not be a factor in the hiring company's decision on how good of an employee you are, how you will perform at the company, or anything else. Even if what you made before was a lot higher and you're taking a pay decrease in order to take a more desirable/fullfilling position, they don't need to know that. If they ask for the information, simply tell them that's not up for discussion and that you're only going to discuss the offered position's salary range and/or your current salary requirements so you can come to a hiring agreement.
