    You can use a "post build event" to copy the file, the build event options are in your project properties. The build events are just typed in as if they were being executed from the cmd prompt (you can have more than one). Alternatively, you can make a simple script that'll set up the cd for you and even do the cd burning outside of your dev environment.

    If you want to keep the whole team synched, and a central code server is desirable (it is in some cases) or not a problem, try using SVN as a source control alternative (there are many others such as Mercurial and Git). I have the server hosted on a Linux machine and developers access the repositories via a Tortoise SVN client. There are a lot of revision control setups and software packages available, so do some research and pick one accordingly. They all have positives and negatives, but I've been using SVN for a bit now and it works great.

    If you have the DLL source, it's easy, just place a breakpoint in any of the entry functions within the DLL and see when it's getting called. You don't have to have the source for the executable, just need to tell VisualStudio what exe will be loading your dll. If you don't have the exe or the dll code, I don't believe there's anyway of telling when the executable is making those calls (other than reverse engineering the executable).

    Please form a full question, in the appropiate forum. Your post makes no sense. If you have any difficulties with how to do this please try the GIT[^], where they will give you guidance. Sort of a cross between Lawrence of Arabia and Dilbert.[^] -Or- A Dead ringer for Kate Winslett[^]

    I've been really happy with VS2008 SP1. I bought VS2008 Standard then added SQL Server 2008R2 (Express) and bought a copy of Active Reports 6. (Adding the Reports Generator, in-effect, converts my VS to a "Pro" version). All set up for under a thousand bucks. I used to use VS2005 which was fine. I have all 3 (2005, 2008 and 2010) on my system at the office. I still like 2008 the best. It seems to have the best balance of power, stability and speed. VS2010 ... nice enough but it doesn't upgrade enough of what I use to make it worth it and it's much slower. FWIW ... -Max

    Try posting this in the COM forum, so one of the COM wizards can see it. Unrequited desire is character building. OriginalGriff

    Thanks Rob. I don't know which is more annoying: the original cryptically-unfunny(*) error message, the lack of information on it in the MSDN, or the fact that it's a known bug that still isn't fixed even in VS2010. (*) I f***ing hate cute error messages. Tell me in plain and simple terms what went wrong, and suggest what I need to do to fix it. This is basic, essential design, even in a tool intended for a sophisticated audience like developers. Software Zen: delete this;

    It's also worth noting that sometimes MS will showcase a technology like this where all the demos work in the current VS but then when the next VS comes out they drop support for the previous! Either that or they only provide full integration in the new version. So playing with VS Express for now is a good idea. Kevin
