Anton, The .Net 3.0 assemblies can be found on your harddrive at C:\\Program Files\\Reference Assemblies\\Microsoft\\Framework\\v3.0. I started this article (http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/Vista_Speech_Recognition.asp[^]) with an explanation of the steps (just a few) you need to follow to start developing with Visual Studio 2005 on Vista. So far, I havn't run into any problems developing on Vista. It's actually very nice, and I'm enjoying the new OS. James

Sorry man. I was trying to go to the next page and accidentally gave you a 2 rating (not really sure how I managed to do that). Didn't mean for that to happen, though. My bad.

Noor, Strangely enough, I just wrote an article using an MDI application to show off Vista's speech recognition features. I think it will show you how to do what you need (though I don't fully understand your third question). http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/Vista_Speech_Recognition.asp[^] There are two C# projects in the downloadable source. The first, Textpad, will run fine in Windows XP. Speechpad, the second project included, only compiles in Vista. However, everything you need should be in the first project. Just read through the first half of the tutorial (which I was worried wouldn't be useful to anybody, by the way -- thanks for proving me wrong!) and you should be in good shape. James

Rule of thumb, if they just say Vista and not specific versions it means there is no reason it shouldn't work on a specific version. Matt Newman

I am running both my farm of machines. For the most part 32-bit just works (meaning I have only had to look for one driver total). 64-bit works most of the time, I researched hardware that all had Vista 64 drivers or at least XP 64 drivers and just about everything has worked. If you can get a machine that you can get all your drivers for Vista 64 I would recommend it. I have found a stunning amount of .NET applications that reference 32-bit unmanaged libraries compiled with the ANYCPU option which causes the app to crash the second it gets to anything calling said 32-bit code. In terms of general use it runs the same as Vista 64, I would recommend it on the basis that eventually things will migrate to 64-bit and this way you'll be ready. Matt Newman

if you are programming in vb6 for example, textfield boxes have a property called passwordchar, if empty then mask is nothing and an user can see the content of field, else, if passwordchar is a char (* for example) the mask is equal to passwordchar. You must write a programm what allow choice to user "password or no password" and change this property. Cuando salga el sol, no estare aqui...

With a third monitor, I'd sure have some room for gadgets. They do make sense if they convey information, or provide a custom "always there" control interface. And they are cute visual toys for the cute toy collectors. Like a bed full of plush teddies. Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Velopers, Develprs, Developers! You could put a NAS in the middle, have the machine currently hosting the AVI, copy it to the NAS and then all the clients could get it from there.

This bugs me too. It seems that with the Aero theme you can't customize anything other than the glass title bar hue. I tried to change the window non-client area color to gray, no dice. Very annoying. I'm looking for a solution too in case anyone knows how.
