Isreal != Jewdaism One is a country (whose predominant religion is Jewish) the other is a religion.
That is like saying the countries of Iraq, Iran or India are not influenced by their predominant religions. Israel is heavily influenced by Judaism*. I would be very surprised to find that it did not permeate everyday life in Israel. * I am pretty sure it is Judaism and not Jewdaism. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Feed Henry!

I live in the United States, currently. I say "we" because Israel is the only homeland for Jewish people everywhere. It has been our only real home going back some 4000 years. I would like to live there someday if I could secure a job. Ultimately, I will live there at some point. That's why you see so much contention about giving land away. The land we have is tiny; Arabs have 23 countries surrounding us in which they can live, we only have 1 country, and its a spec on the map compared to the surrounding nations. This gets at the real reason behind the conflict between Israelis and so-called Palestinians. People say Palestinians want land, that's true, but what they really want is us to not live here. The ruling Palestinian party, Hamas, makes it no secret they call for Jews to be wiped off the map. They don't even recognize our right to exist. People need to know this because we keep getting pressured by western governments to give up land--what a ludicrous proposition! As if giving up yet another piece of land will actually bring peace... </rant>

Israel is a democracy - I don't see why Christians shouldn't live there. The CIA factbook[^] says 1.7% of Israelis are 'Arab Christians', though I don't think Judah looks like an Arab. Cheers, Vikram.

What? I don't?! heheh Yes, there are some Arab Christians. There also exists a growing movement of so-called "Messianics": those who are Jewish (and some non-Jews) who believe that Jesus is the Messiah promised in Judaism.

I wasn't saying they shouldn't. My question was of a demographic nature.

The Ultimate Grid - The #1 MFC grid out there!Nish, I am a Jew by blood. I believe that Jesus is the Messiah promised in my religion, the one who would set the whole world right with God. And that's what he's done, that's why I know Jesus is the Messiah! God is doing amazing things in these days, you just have to be looking for it. Just like he said it would happen, God used the Jews rejection to bring most of the non-Jewish world to God through Jesus. That is awesome. What's even better, God said he would bring us Jews back to Messiah when the time of the non-Jews is fulfilled. I think we're nearing that point, as more and more Jews around the world find out that this Jesus guy actually is the Messiah we've been waiting for. It's exciting to see this finally happening!

Yes, in fact, there is a coalition of Jews and Christians that are calling for the Old City of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount (now relabelled Al Aqsa Mosque by the Muslims) to be handed over to its rightful owners, the Jewish people. (And no, unlike the Muslims, Christians do not claim ownership, thank God! :))

Don't get me wrong, women are generally smaller then men and they don't have the testosterone contributing to building muscle mass, but muscle mass and size are only two factors to strength let alone something as complicated as combat.

The Ultimate Grid - The #1 MFC grid out there! You can call me whatever you want. :) The proper term would be "Messianic Jew". I usually don't go by "Christian" because my people have been persecuted by some evil people through the ages in the name Christ, shaming themselves and their religion in the process. Additionally I don't care much for the name "Christian", since 'Christ' is a Greek term: Jesus comes from the Greek "Iesus", which is a literal translation from the Hebrew. Christ comes from the Greek "Kristos", which is the Greek term for "messiah" Iesus comes from the original Hebrew "Yeshua", which means salvation Kristos comes from the original Hebrew "Maschiach", which means messiah So I prefer to call Jesus by his real name, rather than a translation of a translation. So, the name "Jesus Christ" is really Yeshua Mashiach. Or Jesus the Christ is Yeshua HaMashiach. Also, Christianity has strayed quite a way from the original belief in the Messiah. I'm not condemning anyone; I just don't typically associate myself with many of the beliefs and rituals of the Church as it is, especially the Catholic Church. If anything, I like the name Messianic, as it more reflects the Jewish-ness of Jesus and his role as Messiah.

Yes! I'd say at least half: since the gospels speak about Jesus and the disciples, you've got an almost exclusively Jewish story there. Even Paul was Jewish, writing most of the remaining New Testament.

Heheh, so true. Tech is exploding over in Israel, so that's opened at least. I think not only a job, by my wife is a traditional Christian, so it would take a lot of convincing. :) Combine that with having a 5 year old, I can't see myself going for some time. It will happen someday, though, I'm sure of it.

I took Karate when I was 12 for a summer. The belts are similar in Kung Fu, but there are lot more moves and it is more fluid. It's funny, each system thinks theirs is the best. I just do it for fun and exercise and to get my frustrations out. The studio where I study uses karate style uniforms and belt system, except brown belt is broken into 3rd, 2nd, 1st and then black starts at 1st and goes up to 9th. They adopted the Japanese style uniforms because Chineese martial arts were outlawed in the area that one of the previous grandmasters taught in.

Now THERE'S an interesting POV - as far as I was aware, Israel was set up as a Jewish homeland....to me that suggests that Israel MOST DEFINATELY = Judaism. I realise that there are many other religions present in Israel, but surely giving a religious group a homeland kinda intrinsically links the two?
