Upon successfully answering all of the questions, the user becomes a certified CP user. Here's a list of proposed questions: -------------- 1) Where do you post programming questions (check all that apply)? a) Not the Lounge b) The appropriate programming forum 2) Can you post programming questions in the Lounge (check all that apply)? a) No b) Not only no, but HELL NO 3) What kind of posts don't belong in the lounge (check all that apply)? a) Programming questions b) Questions about programming c) C++/C#/Pascal/Cobol/Java/PHP/ASP/PL1/Assembly/RPG/Fortran (basically, any programgram language) programming questions 4) If you're about to post a programming question in the lounge you should (check all that apply): a) Not do it b) Don't even think about it c) Set fire to to your keyboard before you make that mistake 5) If you post programming questions in the lounge you should expect the following treatment (check all that apply): a) Name calling b) General insults regarding parental heritage c) Suggestions regarding your diminutive IQ d) Physical descriptions that include the phrases "sloped-foreheaded" and "open-mouth-breathing" e) Observations that include your inability to funtion independantly in society outside your asylum dormatory without having someone hold your fucking hand ------------- Other users are hereby invited to contribute to the quiz...

I've just done the morning lounge cleanup and was thinking the same thing. The most frustrating thing is that there are guys here who *know* the lounge is meant for non-programming chat yet they are posting programming questions. I'm just looking into the System.TarAndFeathers namespace to see if there's something that may help cheers, Chris Maunder

Barring the driver's license idea, maybe you could come up with some code that tried to determine if a post is a programming question, and take a ppropriate action. Some ideas about appropriate action would inclue: 1) Change the text of the message to say "I promise to never again post programming questions in the lounge." 2) Change the text of the message so that all of the words start with the correct letter, but all other letters are substituted with asterisks. 3) Post a cartoon charicature of someone with their head up their ass, and then labelled "I posted a programming question in the lounge". 4) Post a cartoon charicature of someone with the head in a toilet with the caption, "I think I musta lost my brain in here somewhere..."

Perhaps a dunce cap avatar that dissapears after a couple of days? A small ammount of ridicule seems to go a long way on other forums. Might be hard to not make it look like "Magic Bob" though, and then there's the multinational nature of CP. Ryan

Failing that, how's about a sticky thread at the top for answers/links to all the FAQ: 1. I am uploading a file to my server, <unspecified> something went wrong... 2. I have bound some data to this control, why's it not working... 3. I'm new to <Insert programming language>, can anyone tell me how to connect to a DB / display a textbox / create a cross platform dynamically built CMS for 100000 concurrent users? Pls supply code....
