Nice flame. You must have a lot of friends. Virtually everything that has been promised in Vista has been pulled. I'd list them for you, but I assume you are competent enough to look them up for yourself. I'm not buying this latest story about "it's just a name change". But then perhaps you belong to the Department of Gullible Sheep who Eat Whatever is Fed to Them. And on January 1, 2000, I was in London for the Millenium party. Air fares were incredibly cheap, due to the morons who thought planes would fall out of the sky. You want a flame war, bring it on. I'll match you flame for flame. Just remember who started it. Can you list them for me? I'm incredibly incompetent. I don't even know how to spell "Google".

Virtually is the right word, to which I could reply: hey man, virtually everything is delivered as promised!

Well, in this case you should. Indigo is still there, still works great, you should check out the WinFX SDK. Avalon is still there, still works great, you should check out the WinFX SDK. There was a 3rd exiting thing I can't remember right now, but it's there too! ---- The law student then replied, "Okay. I'd tell him `I hereby give and convey to you all and singular, my estate and interests, rights, claim, title, claim and advantages of and in, said orange, together with all its rind, juice, pulp, and seeds, and all rights and advantages with full power to bite, cut, freeze and otherwise eat, the same, or give the same away with and without the pulp, juice, rind and seeds, anything herein before or hereinafter or in any deed, or deeds, instruments of whatever nature or kind whatsoever to the contrary in anywise notwithstanding...'" -- modified at 9:25 Tuesday 13th June, 2006

From the June 12 edition of MSDN Flash: From the Editor Name change department: InfoCard is now CardSpace, and WinFX is now the .NET Framework 3.0. You'll be seeing the old names for a while, but now you know what's coming down the pike. Do I read this correctly? It sounds like WinFX is being dropped (as quietly as possible), and the .NET Framework is being left essentially as-is. After six years, does Vista have nothing new except a bit of eye candy? An utter, complete fiasco! David Veeneman www.veeneman.com

Jeez, more technology renames, my head is spinning I can't keep up anymore. Microsoft have screw up on Vista big time. Never send a human to do a machine's job Agent Smith

No you are not reading that correctly. If you were to read that correctly you would know that WinFX isn't going anywhere its just getting a real name (which is .NET 3.0). Had you read that correctly you would have also known that InfoCard is also not leaving it is merely getting a different name.

There is actually a condsiderable amount of added features that haven't gotten the press that WinFX and Aero have gotten. Matt Newman

I'd be interested in knowing what they are. From what I've read, they're beefing up security a bit, adding a couple of apps, and focusing on eye candy, so it would be nice to know if there are actually new substantive features beyond that which would make the operating system worth upgrading to. I'm just going to point to channel9 because its the quickest way to find things for me right now. I'm going to ignore the Media Center, Sideshow, and Gadgets stuff because its all kind of just fluff. Audio Stack Upgrade[^] Printing[^] Networking[^] plus speech recognition, handwriting recognition (not just in tablet edition anymore), InfoCard/CardSpace, Parental Controls, Network mapping (really cool). Thats all that is popping into my head right now but I found it really hard to go back to XP on my laptop. Matt Newman

Hmmm, maybe it's worth the upgrade after all, since I can't currently do those things... Author of The Career Programmer and Unite the Tribes Know someone who desperately needs to get a clue? The application audio mixer is a damn fine feature, no more deafening messenger bonging / outlook notifications while listening to music. A small thing, but nice. And not in OSX yet either :). Ryan
