We have the freedom to allow all that if we wished. However, not being a civilization in decline, we choose not to.

Judging by the rate all the crazy evangelicals are growing, you'll soon be as civilized as any other theocracy. And you know what? Catholics are looked down upon by them. You're catholic, right? I seem to vaguely remember that you admitted to that. Some of the evangelicals will so far as to say that the pope is antichrist. Good luck being... civilized. :)

Actually in a separate poll (which I don't have handy), the US actually lead the world in an international poll for both quality and quantity of sex. So I guess your assumptions are wrong.

I've seen statistics that basically says that the poorer people are, the more kids they produce.

Spanish men also don't know how to please a woman. The average woman in the US has 2.09 children and in Spain they only have 1.28. Perhaps that chauvinism is masking something deeper.

Ummm, I'm gonna go ahead and point out the subtle comedy... "Spanish men also don't know how to please a woman" followed by "Perhaps that chauvinism is masking something deeper"... Like a french boyfriend with a big wanker...

In all fairness to Oxford's Dictionary, it does mention the american spelling. On the other hand, the american spelling for similar words is smarter, because it conveys the actual pronounciation better than the british counterparts. Definately more foreigner friendly. ;)

You must be an arrogant asshole to tell that to an American, being from the UK yourself. In the UK you have "knife amnesites", and will put anyone in jail for 4 years for having a pocket knife. In the UK your police arrest young children of making "racist" remarks. The police in the UK can do pretty much whatever they like if they label someone a "terrorist". Wheras Americans have the right to free speech, the right to be armed (which i am), the right against unreasonable searches and confiscations by the police (but the police do violate this one sometimes). America's* Literacy rate (link[^]): 99% Spain's literacy rate (link[^]): 97.9% so Spain is about twice as illiterate as the United States. Not only that, but they elected communists in order to appease Al Qaeda. What a bunch of wussies. *Note that this figure has been adjusted to only include the United States. Venezuela was not counted. -- modified at 9:10 Thursday 22nd June, 2006

Actually "evangelicals" as you see them represent a very small minority of Christian in this country. A Southern Baptist is not an "evangelical" as you see them. I've also known many protestants in my life (my grabdfather is a protestant preacher) and with the exception of one in college who said the pope has a stupid hat, I've never experienced anything but kindness from them. Being an American and pro-freedom, I whole-heartedly support religious people regardless of their religion (as long as they don't blow people up). That's quite different from Europe where such practice is generally frowned upon.

But not being allowed to have a gun doesn't make you free? So you're free because you have the freedoms that your government allows you to have?

Spanish men also don't know how to please a woman. The average woman in the US has 2.09 children and in Spain they only have 1.28. Perhaps that chauvinism is masking something deeper.
