Can Zune kill the iPod?[^] Whoever is in charge of naming Microsoft products needs to get their 3rd Formal Letter of Warning and then be sacked.

I am more excited about the commercials Mac will put out. - "Hi, I am an iPod" :sigh: - "and I am a Zune" - "I play music that can be downloaded from out iTunes store. Don't try copying it to more than 5 machines though, that's a breach of your contract with us. And don't even think to make it a format other than our proprietary ACC format. You may have bought it, but you don't own it. In fact, we own you. But hey, we make you look cool and pompous by giving you the priviledge to rip Microsoft." :wtf: - "And I make a great paper weight or recording your dictations" - "I am kooky cool and won't your friends be jealous of you carrying me around!"

They have a life-sized cardboard standup of Bill Gates, and every once in a while, they kick it's ass.

Well since it was damaged outside of warranty, I couldn't have it repaired, and since it was pointless having an mp3 player that you couldn't hear anything on it, I suppose I got my use out of it and still have the use of the hard drive. You'd be supprised, i've been bored witless driving to work, so I did infact plug my headphones into a laptop that i took to work and listened to music. Needless to say it didn't last long. Gav

How easy was it to get inside the mp3 player?  Surely you could've (or someone you knew) soldered the socket back on (unless it ripped the board apart).  But then again I've been taught and picked up skills from my father who can repair absolutely anything (or if it's beyond repair, design a better one) :)

As of how to accomplish this I wouldn't have a clue at the moment and I'm too lazy to google it

Microsoft + MTV ? it'll start out as being 'all about the music'. after two years it'll be all game shows about music. in another year, it'll be all game shows and celebrity gossip.

You wouldn't have a small portable drive for that all-important dev-work we people do.

It was basically a small pcb with a laptop hdd connection on the end, undo 4 screws and it came out.

                                      Sounds simple

Well, Dad's coming up to 54 and still soldering component that he can't see clearly unless they're under the microscope.  One of his main chips that he uses is 1cm² and has about 100 "feet" all around it, so that's 25/cm and he has to solder this stuff :omg:

As of how to accomplish this I wouldn't have a clue at the moment and I'm too lazy to google it

Are you referring to Linux's ability to run on an iPod?
