jeesh. I seem to remember another MS heavy leaving early on when .NET was being developed. Can't remember his name though. Any idea what this means for Microsoft's "single logon" architecture? Hopefully it will never see the day of light. With the security track-record of Microsoft one might as well run an unpatched IIS. :-(

No, I think a single sign-on which gives access to many services from different suppliers is a good idea, but I also think MS were always going to have a problem getting sufficient trust to make it fly - first time at least. I agree with others in this thread who reckon it will be back, after a revamp, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the basic idea turn out to be a success once they've addressed the trust and data security issues. I think that Hailstorm -- what kind of name is that anyway? I assume it's meant to describe what they want to do to their competitors. Anyway, Hailstorm is a solution looking for a problem and that's why it (may have) failed.
