Generally speaking, when someone posts something like that, it's best to assume it's a troll, it almost certainly is.

I see. I am pretty new around here, and to forums in general. I'm not the greatest at spotting a troll, but I bet I can do it a little better now. What's the policy on dealing with trolls, just ignoring them?

I see. I am pretty new around here, and to forums in general. I'm not the greatest at spotting a troll, but I bet I can do it a little better now. What's the policy on dealing with trolls, just ignoring them?

ALT.NET is a emerging software development movment; Members of this movement try to get out of "mainstream" .NET and Microsoft developers and use ALTernative (origin of ALT, I guess) ways of doing things. For example they may use NHibernate technology instead of using usual .NET data access components like datasets. Although it seems to be, but ALT.NET is not another Anti-Microsoft movement; ALT.NET developers just doen't limit themselves to "usual" .NET tools and SDKs which came from Microsoft, instead they try to keep their minds open and look for new technologies and practices in order to get the best out of their effort.

That's probably what most of good developers do, in my opinion.

The same principle applies to Design Patterns, you'd be surprised how many good developers are actually using design patterns without knowing it.

Here, right bellow the "1 2 3 4 5 (out of 5)" I have: Report as Spam or Abuse being "Spam" and "Abuse" links. If they're not there try contacting the support... I don't know what may be wrong

Colin, Probably enough replies by now, but I can throw in a reference to a (very subjective) 'hot/not' tools list on Roy Osherove's blog (one of the bloggers in the alt.net parade): http://weblogs.asp.net/rosherove/archive/2007/06/04/alt-net-alternative-tools-and-approaches-to-mainstream-net.aspx[^] Trouble with such a movement, in my view, that it can tend to become an incrowd 'with us or against us' debating club witjout some form of moderation. On the other hand, when it gains some clout, MS will stand to notice, as indeed happened with Scott Guthrie presenting at the recently held alt.net conference. Regards, Arjan Keene

I don't see it either. Do you have to have certain status to see that link?
