Or like some guy that sobered up and came to his senses. I interned and worked with Microsoft when I was at University; 3 days later I was completely disillusioned.

"Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning." - Rick Cook "There is no wealth like knowledge, no poverty like ignorance." Ali ibn Abi Talib "Animadvertistine, ubicumque stes, fumum recta in faciem ferri?"

Well, anytime I've taken a fulltime job I get disillusioned in about 3 days. But for some reason, as a consultant, it takes far longer. Which is good. Marc

Figures. Probably pays better too. Unfortunately, I can't do that here in Jordan, the market is too small and you'd be hard pressed to find a job as a free lancer. Can't wait to finish my Msc.

Wow!  You mean Microsoft developers are just programmers and not gods? That's like somebody telling me Santa Claus isn't real.

Why is it that when I read about people leaving Microsoft, it comes across like a priest leaving the church so he can have sex? Marc

I don't think so. His concerns sounded genuine, and weren't expressed in anger.

Maybe in their own minds. I didn't read anything in that blog that didn't sound like a typical large software shop situation.  Some people aren't cut out for that - I know I never want to work for a large shop like that. Hopefully he'll move on to a situation that's a better fit. Just because it was Microsoft doesn't give his rantings any more significance IMO. That was my feeble point :) Mark
