I feel I must draw your attention to a news item in today's Daily Telegraph in UK. Generally a lot of firms are looking abroad for Graduates and Techies, because most of the younger people coming out of University have not got the skills or experience to do the jobs available. They exit with a degree and cannot spell, write legibly or have even rudimentary maths skills! I remember having knuckles rapped with a ruler if I mis-spelt a word(They had Corporal Punishment in MY day!) The point I am making is have you tried working in UK? Always a need for bright young things given the morons pouring from our universities (Apologies for the Non Moronic UK University Educated on this Site, but we all know Media Studies is a load of old b#*#*#*ks!). :)

If I didn't have to sell a kidney for a house down payment, I'd be interested in returning to ol' blighty. My sister's two bedroom flat cost twice as much as my three bedroom house, detached with two car garage naturally, being the midwest. Something is just wrong there.

Having had this happen to me in a period of my life where there is just no way I could recover at all from it. I get very angry and sad to hear these things. The working people get let go and companies are too stupid to realize it's the "middle managers" that are the reason they are where they are at. It's a total shame and whenever I hear of this I just wish the companies would conduct their lay-off from the top to the middle and leave the people at the bottom (who actually make the money) alone. It's just so sad and terrible.:rose:

It's nobody's fault really, our business engine just didnt run as smooth as we hoped for, and together with some other factors, it made business-sense to do what they did.

Pretty good I think, as we couldnt even find a decent person to employ for the last 9 months. That is part of the reason of the shutdown, the lack of expanding our resource capabilities. The standard of people that we did interview, was so poor, I would reckon it would not be too hard finding something new. :)

Same here, it makes me feel quite comfortable in my employability. That and the constant call from recruiters :D On the bright side, it sounds like you've got a month long paid job search.

Loads of programming jobs. Some crazies invested $30million into an Irish "social networking" this week so they will be hiring. Microsoft, Google, Oracle etc. are all in Dublin and hiring. Facebook might be here soon too (not that I'd want a job with them.) Manufacturing and construction jobs are tanking though. Thankfully you, nor I, are brick layers.

Heh, so true. I have a 4 bedroom house on 1.5 acres of land and my family thinks I'm absolutely loaded with money. It's not that I'm loaded (far from it!) it's just that your money can actually buy things in America.

Reputable employment aggggeee... ah jeez, I just can't say that without dying from laughter. ;) I got my job through a friend and we don't use employment agencies to hire new slaves. irishjobs.ie[^] is supposed to be a decent job site here.
