Ah. Sorry to hear that. I suspect my MVP award will be at risk (Jan) because I've hardly contributed to CP this year, given all the stuff going on in my life. Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :) Marc

My bets on this one... Microsoft have done a hell of a lot to try and get a good reputation for Vista (no matter how much they tried, they still failed)

As some of you may know, I've been coding for the iPhone. The iPhone SDK is under NDA right now, and the apple docs are as good as the MS docs, which means a lot of things that should be easy, are a nightmare. It seems to me that there's a real opening for a site like CP that has iPhone and Cocoa articles and forums. How many of you guys write for Apple and think that's a good idea ? For the record, the two possibilities I am exploring here are 1 - such a site exists and I didn't know about it, or 2 - Chris should add an Apple next to SQL/Java/*nix on the CP toolbar. I would definately read intro articles on iPhone development but I wouldn't be doing any actual development. I did some apple / cocoa development stuff at my previous job. Do they have an emulator for the iPhone?

Yeah, it's really good too. It even runs apps that won't run on the phone, to my chagrin.

What about a mobile.codeproject.com? All things mobile including iPhone, Android (if they ever update the bloody APIs etc etc)

So who actually votes? Is it all other MVPs or a committee?

The whole process is shrouded in secrecy, I don't know. MVPs nominate, they do not vote.

Yeah, the iPhone is the thing where I have some ideas, and where I see a need, so that sounds like a great idea to me. If you were to create such an area, I'd write some iPhone articles as soon as I was allowed to. I've written the simplest of apps, and some of most basic things have taken a day or two of googling and trawling through terrible documentation to figure out. So, I have a number of ideas for things that should be better documented that I'd write about in the first instance, for sure.

I agree! There aren't as many Apple-centric developer sites available as for Windows. I'd really enjoy reading (and contributing to!) "Apple Project".

It's the same reason that Apple users can claim not to wory about viruses - the scammers and other evil people out there shoot at the biggest targets in the assumption that some will hit home - they don't bother with the little targets. If the number of Apple installations ever came to rival Windows installations, you can bet your bottom dollar they would be targeted just as much and holes and exploits would be found!

I second that! I've been trying to program for the iPhone since a few months now. I started the wrong way probably in not reading up too much before trying to put our C++ based game engine onto the iPhone. Although it supports C++ code and our engine seems ported (compiles and runs :) )... I've really missed a forum like CP. Apple ideally should've had a forum on their site (not sure if there's one I don't know of.
