Of all the words that could be the millionth, why did it have to be this one?

Nice, and I thought I was the only one who thought it was stupid. Isn't it a bit like saying "Window Cleaner" is a word? How does that work?

I like it - looks like a gestalt kind of thing - as in: "Pundits have commented that the prevailing snarkelfeld dominating the EU elections have left many in doubt over the future of spotty bummed political intrusions in general, and may indicate a radical shift to one side or another, depending, of course, on which side you're on." I mean hey - what else would you call it?

What if everyone here signs up for a Twatter account with the sole purpose of creating Twits that contain the word "snarkelfeld"? Surely we could have this fixed in an hour or two?

You're making a common mistake. Spaces do not denote the ends of words; they're just a reading/writing aid.

"Window" and "cleaner" are being used as complementary attributive nouns, which means that it's difficult to see which one is acting as the noun, and which attributively as the (perhaps postmodifying) adjective. That makes them a "compound noun" or "phrasal noun", which is grammatically a single word. Next question.

What does snarkelfeld mean? Google thinks it's German, and Merriam-Webster suggests 'seminal fluid'

I suppose it's a matter of taste.

There's a sandwich bar in Rotterdam which proudly, in huge letters, declares that it serves "EVERYDAY FRESH SANDWICHES". I haven't the heart to tell them that "everyday" means mundane and boring, and that they mean "every day". You used it correctly, though. English grammar is nothing if not boring.

I went to great lengths to make up a word that didn't exist...the results you saw assumed the word was mispelled...anyway Google now shows results for "snarkelfeld" ... CodeProject posts :-D
