I was just teasing. It seems pretty stereotypical that people starting a band are doing lots of drugs. Makes them sound better, at least to themselves! Marc

Well, everyone knows that Dave Matthews is a pretty heavy drinker and is quite into the narcotics. He did, at one point, decide to break away from his "vices" and the band then went on to produce Everyday. Most, I think, would say it was their worst album...they went all calculated pop. So, he went back to the booze and they're better again.

I play 9-42's, ernie ball super slinkys I think the reason for this damn blister is cause the solo I've been practicing is on the 18th fret so there's more tension down there...

I used to play 9's but I decided that I didn't quite like the sound. It wasn't meaty enough for me. I went back to 10's. I also use 40's on the big E.

I do now - I figured that Harvey wouldn't have one though, with has band only being 6 weeks old. I use the LD WS 1000 now - it's the best one I've had.

The one I use is a Zoom. It works fine for me. I've stopped using it at home tho, I got sick of buying batteries.

Me and some friends started a band about 6 weeks ago. We have our first gig tomorrow night and hundreds of people are coming. I've been practicing some solo's I'm playing to perfect them, solos that require alot of string bending... I now have blisters on my finger tips... :sigh: Any tips from the other guitarists here? CG? Master Yoda?

Nothing I could say would strike a chord with you. I could say "G, let me axe you a question", but you'd just bridge that question and tune me out. Maybe you'd pickup a hint from someone else, or you'd pick your own resolution from after feeling a leather strap on your back. Of course, you'd want to sing it out loud and become a Telecaster of things to come, and maybe string everyone else along. Don't fret though - we'd all crane our neck in wonder because we know your hollow brain goes with your hollow body, and that if you encountered a pothole in the road of life, you'd guitar and fix it yourself before it gave you A-flat.

Haven't read all the way through the replies so this might be a repeat, but try using CrazyGlue on your fingertips. I played in bands through my teens and twenties and remember quite a few of my guitarist buddies using crazy glue when they were coming back to it after being away for a while. Don't do it all the time because you want to develop the naturally occurring callous, but it will get you through a gig. It's kinda nasty looking as it begins to wear off (and it takes a while to wear off) but hey, this is ROCK 'N ROLL man!
