I'm leaving, just had enough. There are others who have left without saying but I decided I owe it to the good folks here (Chris, Pete, DD, DaveAuld, Griff and others) to say why. Basically there is an element of blatant elitism that turns into attacks/ridicule on others whether it be blondes or Visual Basic. I have been told to my face I can't do my job because of my hair colour wirth response that I should just live with it or sink to their level. Also Visual Basic, whether it is VBA or VB.NET, has it's place for different users yet some here decide they can ridicule anyone who touches it. These are two examples of an underlying attitude I do not wish to be associated with so goodbye everyone and take care. I have asked Chris to delete my account. Elaine :rose:

I agree with the elitism charge, having been a victim of it myself. And it does get a bit tiring. I've decided to ignore most of it. VB is certainly held in low regard here, and as a result, it receives a fair amount of flak. But, I think most of it (at least all that I have seen) is meant as good-natured fun. I'm quite sure any ridicule you have seen was not meant personal. Whether it was or not, perhaps you should consider the source. "If you take offense when none is intended, you're a fool. So you can hand out the abuse but cant take it eh? Dont let the door hit you in the ass as you leave. :) --edit-- Sorry to pop your bubble one voters, she has been consistently rude and abusive to me for years so my comment is entirely valid.

Why should she have sympathy given what she has said? Because of people like her I have had two accounts deleted. Finally she is doing the decent thing and deleting her own account. :)

I always pictured you as a brunette, but don't ask me why. I've observed that hair color has no bearing on a person's abilities or proclivities. Regarding VB, if you code in it and like it, that's fine. I code in it and most definitely don't like it, which is also fine. Everyone here that pays attention knows my current job requires it, and that I don't like, and I get a certain amount of good-natured flac for it. I didn't even know you coded in VB - or I had forgotten. I think you're overreacting.

I thought it was just friendly teasing... I used to program in VB... And my hair used to be blond! (Darkened in my teens).

That's not an insult... That's an opportunity! It's like the perfect setup for a punchline, when you make them eat their words later. Anyway... You talk as if you think it's a Codeproject policy to dis VB coders. It's not. I wonder what the results would be if everybody on the site were forced to participate in the following poll: How do you feel about VB? 0) Love it 1) Hate it 2) Don't care Notice that the list starts with 0, so most VB programmers won't even recognize it as a viable selection, hence skewing the results because the people that really do love it can't select that option. :) EDIT =========== Oh c'mon 1-voting tools, that was f*ckin' hilarious! Okay, okay... I'll try my best to come up with some C# jokes. If anyone can do it, it's me...

I hate to hear that you are leaving. When I'm down I purposely look for certain people's comments in the lounge because I know they'll have that right mix of sarcasm, wit, and hilarity that'll bring a smile to my face. You are one of those individuals and will be sorely missed. Whether than leave why not take a breather and get away from things for a while. When things have improved in your personal life, then take another look at if you want to be a part of this community or not. Don't make a rush decision when things are not going so well. If you do decide to leave, then I wish you well in all your endeavors and hope things will get better for you. Maybe drop us a line and letting us know you new on-line home? :-D

If you can’t have fun at work, then why go to work?

Why should she have sympathy given what she has said? Because of people like her I have had two accounts deleted. Finally she is doing the decent thing and deleting her own account. :)

No it isn't, and I didn't talk as such either. But it does seem to be the attitude of certain "elite" well-known CP individuals. Hey, I'm not really any better, I make jokes about VB too. So, I'm pointing the finger at myself too, just not the "elite" part... BTW, I didn't one vote you. Here's a 5 to offset it.

Hi, I really feel sorry for the fact that you have decided to leave CP for the reasons you explained in (hopefully not) your last post and I want to respond to what you say with the fact that most of us are respecting others here on CP regardless of the programming language they use or whatever and don't behave as if they are superior towards the other members. Everyone who has historical knowledge of programming knows that countless people started with programming in BASIC and countless programmers are still programming today in some predecessor of this language so there is nothing wrong with that since it's doing the job! I hope you reconsider your decision based on the fact that you did a great Job as Mentor on CP and your advice and help will be missed by many people.

                                          With friendly greetings, Eric Goedhart
