So with the sad demise of Workspaces and TV the question must be, "What next for CP?". What would you like to see added or investigated? A public API has been mentioned quite a few times over the last few years, so apart from that. For me: API - but I won't mention that A slicker article editor with basic image editing features. Q&A remodel ???

Why can't Q&A do a pop over/under to google with the title of the question entered as the search criteria.

But still I'm glad that forums not flooded with those type of questions

The problem is the forums aren't flooded in any type of questions. Do my homework style questions were fielded, and shot down. Newbie questions were asked, often these were shot down too - but less so than Q&A - and one person shooting down would be noticed a decent help often given. The forums were much more self-policing: Let's say someone tried the "See my near identical answer" thing so prevalent in Q&A just didn't happen. This behaviour would have been called out, and very visibly (as opposed the need to open the specific question) in the forums. A lot of the worst aspects of the Q&A simply weren't tolerated in the forums.] I'm not say the forums being active was a bed of roses - guilty of grouphthink and their were dingbats questions and answewrs, but the situation was (and is) much better there.

Agree with Dave, already there's an offline editor we have. But I still prefer VS or some other editor to write things in offline.

Sad? I thought both were rather useless, and workspaces was certainly annoying. What I'd like to see is some improvements to the RSS feed. The "authors" field is blank, there's no way to distinguish between updates and new articles, nor articles vs. blog posts. I'll be mentioning that in the suggestions forum at some point. :) Marc

I suppose it is only sad if you used it and liked it, or if you were one of the devs that spent many hours developing it.

Exactly, and I have great empathy for both users and those devs. It sucks when that happens. I do wonder why it didn't take off (though certainly I'm a contributor to the problem, as all of my recent articles have the source code hosted on GitHub.) Marc

I'm still relatively new to github and was looking to potentially use workspaces for my private repositories and was actually looking at how you handle multiple repositories, but got distracted by other stuff so never followed through on actually starting to use workspaces. Glad I didn't now!

Rather than ask "What's next?", ask yourself this: Why do I use CodeProject? How would I like to use CodeProject? What do I not use on CodeProject? My answers: I use CodeProject to find solutions to issues I have; I frequently find what I am looking for in arcticles. The forums I frequent are VB and Database; where I can, I will assist. I would like to see a reputation system that is based on articles and coding forums only - I shouldn't be increasing my reputation by posting inane whatever in the Lounge or any other non-coding forum. I have tried to use QA, but gave up because of the incessant 'Help plz', and other such vitriol. Tim

I agree with those and will add; A better tablet interface. Maybe I'm not doing something I should be doing but when I first come to CP on my tablet everything is desktop size and I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to change to ?full site? I think is the button label.

One thing that would definitely help here is to expand the pool of people who can edit/move/remove messages. The pool is a lot greater in QA than it is in the forums.

In a lot of ways, that would be an improvement: focus the site back on being about Quality rather than Quantity. I still feel (as did Luc Pattyn) that QA was a mistake - an attempt to "out-SO" SO which detracted from the programming forums and the article quality and has become largely a "do my homework" hangout. I'm pretty sure there are a couple of members holding down full time jobs purely by posting QA questions!

Because.. 1) Even homework questions are getting answered. 2) It happens sometime that OP posted off topic post and we suggest the right forum using comment. In that case, OP can delete the question and post it over the right forum. But what happens is, some members (believe me, being a part of rep hunting clearly) posts something as a solution and hence even if OP wants, he/she can't delete that question. And if OP is a newbie, the solution will get accepted which is totally misleading as per as QA is concerned. 3) There are some members who copies the title of the post, paste it in Google and post first N links as answer. And thats their only pattern. IMO, it won't add much value to CP just because it can't be the case all the time that OP failed to search it using one of the search engines. There are thousands of views regarding this, but the ultimate solution can be achieved only through some strict actions.

You still using Mention dot com? I dropped it as it was giving too many false positives (even with a relatively uncommon name like mine). How are you doing sir? :-D

You looking for sympathy? You'll find it in the dictionary, between sympathomimetic and sympatric (Page 1788, if it helps)

Hello Sir, I'm doing just fine, thank you. No, not mention.com; I rely on my built-in radar. So, CP terminated ::Workspaces? The CP search engine not digesting colons, the name alone looked like a mistake... :) (*) per your request[^]
