    In July, I was on vacation in France, and I came across a board that said "Accès interdit" (Access forbidden) because it was close to a cliff that was collapsing. What was this translated to? To "Speechless access"[^]... :doh:

        Well they cannot event get their own language right. It is spellt [oops] spelt with an accent: accès.

An 'out look' indeed. For the Dutch speakers, Access is more like what, weg? or voorgang perhaps?

                                    Nope. Accents on upcase letters are accepted and encouraged by both the Académie Française[^] and the Office de la langue Française du Québec[^]. These is an exception for acronyms.
