...Should not be taken lightly. My back has been hurting for over a week now. I replaced my chair last weekend and it seems to be getting better. This isn't the first time I've had job related back issues either. For all of those that think I must be an old geezer, I'm 27. Let this be a warning to all you young people out there who are just starting their job at the office (or a reminder for those who've worked there for a while)... Get a good chair and a well adjusted desk. Unlike your software your body doesn't have a backup!

I'd farther recommend some sort of exercise, even taking a long walk at lunch. Your body is made to be moving. Sitting all day (even in a good chair) will leave aches and pains eventually. I learned this at the ripe 'old' age of 30.

There are basically only two muscles that keep you upright; stomach and back if you let one go the other has to compensate.

also, look at your vehicle that you ride in or on. A Walk is good but also just regular exercise. I play wackyball 3-4 times a week. (Racquetball) But pick something that doesn't feel like exercise to you.

What I mean with the ride in or on. Is I had a vehicle that after the 20 minute drive to work. I could not walk. I thought it was my back. get a new to me used vehicle and suddenly back is fine. Turns out it was the seat in the car that just beat on me. Might have been the suspension, or the seat or something. I never did get it adjusted right.

Judging by the popularity of movies about snipers, being spineless is much more common, too.

Get rid of the chair and get either a yoga ball (or a stool) - your spine is not supposed to be supported. (Also - nobody i likely to steal the yoga ball)

I've been working hard to develop those stomach, erm... muscles. I've gained a good 6" in "muscle" in the past 5 years! :-D

                                      Will Rogers never met me.

Same here from a size 32 waist to 34, pure muscle. :) Right!!! The only muscle I've been exercising lately is my brain and the rest has been settling to my ass. :)

Get rid of the chair and get either a yoga ball (or a stool) - your spine is not supposed to be supported. (Also - nobody i likely to steal the yoga ball)

It was actually my chair at home. If someone comes to steal my stuff my chairs will be the least of my worries
