Scientists are looking closer at the moons of one of our gas giants (cant remember which one) which seems to hold heated oceans underneath a frozen sheet of ice at its surface.

I like to think and do think that there is other life out there, including intelligent life (though we in our infinite human wisdom may not notice that it is intelligent.) One other point is the whole Life Must Be Like Us issue which leaves a bad taste in my mouth. How dare we assume that the only possible life has to be like us (us as in life on Earth, i.e. DNA, carbon based, requires oxygen etc.)

There are billions and billions of stars stars in our galaxy and there are billions of galaxies like ours out there. Only a baby would say (if it knew how to speak of course) that earth is the only planet with life. Yet I find that there are unbelievers everywhere. Just wanted to know how of you believe there are alien life forms out there. The others (if they decide to participate in this thread) please give valid reasonable points. I would be very pleased if CG or any of the other believers could show me the proof that they have recieved. I just get my knickers in a twist when some scientist proclaims that "Life on Planet X is impossible as there is no oxygen/atmosphere/water/etc." or how they are only looking for Earth like planets. I don't necessarily NOT believe in life on other planets, but at the same time I have yet to see any evidence. Being a christian, I do look at the bible, but the bible says nothing about whether or not God created other planets with life on them - it neither confirms or denies their existence. So I think it would be really interesting if there was, but I haven't yet seen any proof. I don't see having faith as an easier route in life, but maybe a more fulfilling one. Christians believe that God has a plan, that your life is mapped out and known to him. That things happen by his will, bad or good that there is a reason that he knows. In fact that that is true for every human, believer or not. Some people spend all their lives looking and God never reveals himself to them. Others see him in their first years. That I have not seen him yet is by his choice, he has a plan for me. Isn't that how it goes, from your perspective?

Or you just are not ready Lots of likelys :) Likely that his plan for me differs from what I think it should be, that he may only reveal himself to me in latter years, or not at all. Likely that my most honest asking for him was flawed in his eyes, a flaw I am not yet aware of and need more time to become aware of. Likely that he actually does not exist. Whatever it may be, I actually don't have a problem with it. If my current atheist beliefs are proved wrong tomorrow, I won't be bitter and twisted about it, more likely in awe and amazement. If I die an atheist, no problem there either. Some people need faith, others don't. Both routes are fine by me, I choose the later.
