Have you noticed that the ln (natural log) button is removed from Windows 8 / Win 10 calculator? You can see the (original - win xp, win vista, win 7) had it. Old Windows Calculator (image)[^] Why they remove that? Oh, here's the terribly useful Windows 10 doc on the calculator. Ugh! Calculator in Windows 10[^] X| If you find the ln button in the Windows 10 calculator, please let me know. I need to calculate a natural logarithm immediately if not sooner.

Click the "hamburger" menu on the top-left, and switch to Scientific mode. If necessary, resize the calculator window to make it wider. The ln button is then three from the left, second from the bottom, just above n!.

So the functions you can perform depend on the width of your screen? I say "that's clever!" except I'd need the antonym. And probably a few swear words.

Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

That's very cool. I forgot about how helpful Google is in this case. Thx. Out of curiosity, do you have the ln button in your win8 win10 calc?

Alternatively, click the ↑ button (third from the top, left column) to reveal the additional options.

You can also get to the additional functions with the ↑ key. But it's still not the best design. :)

This is additionally funny because over the weekend while developing my UWP I learned that Universal doesn't mean the app will run on Win8.x and Win10 --- not everywhere and I made this graphic in honor of the terrible UWP experience.

Click the UP arrow on the calculator display. It will change log10 to ln, 10^x to e^x, etc. EDIT: Arggh! beaten by Richard!

If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack. --Winston Churchill

Thanks very much. This is terrible UI design. Maybe some enjoy this type of thing. Ugh!

Also, has anyone noticed that you CANNOT resize the calc window from the top? That's a cool new behavior of the new Windows UI too, isn't it? More user punishment. Here's the insider view of the MS devs at work. Dev 1: Can you imagine when the user (giggle, snort) attempts to resize from the top of the window and he cannot get a resize arrow (giggle, giggle)? Dev 2: That is so funny. Hahaha, s/he'll be chasing the top edge around like a lunatic. X| X| X|
