I don't know what's worst... that someone came with the idea... or that it already raised almost $10k

Ah! So! I see the idea, but you aren't taking it quite far enough. You shake a salt cellar to dispense salt, yes? So what this needs is a "shake to charge" system. Given that the dispense is motorised, quarter of an hour of shaking should provide enough charge to dispense salt for one person (and run the WiFi for a while). :-D
