I used to complain that solution in all my previous work were too big. But now that I just joined EA Games, the solution I work on takes the cake by a big margin: 541 projects! :O Can't wait for VS2022! In fact.. already using the preview.. save for a few minor bug, it ain't too bad...

That is crazy! Is that all just for the Frostbite engine? I assume it doesn't include any of the actual games? Is there a good reason for so many projects, or is it more a case of breaking things out to better control who gets access to what? I am currently on 27 projects. I guess if a product had lots of "off the shelf" plugins, that might be a good cause to grow the project count considerably, but other than that not sure how I would ever hit triple figures.

I'm also guessing it's the frostbite engine, but with that many projects, I'm guessing it has more than one game in it...or fifa 2022

Hopefully all the project build output folders are set to the same folder. What really matters is the number of lines of code, methods, classes, and files.

And today, you're job is to draw foreign key relationships between all the tables without any lines crossing :)

Agree on the lines of code. We have 78 projects, but it should really be closer to 300 if we broke out the dependencies to a better level.

Good luck, sounds like a lot of work!

Don't call back within the first 24h. 95% of all problems are solved by then.

My old team, there were 6 of us and we had over 140 projects that supported one large brokerage office. We all worked as full stack too so it was a fun team to be on but hectic was definitely the daily state of things. I took a promotion this year and moved to a different team that doesn't quite have the same volume of work so it is nice to slow down a little having been in IT for over 26 years now.
