Oh dear... now I am getting peckish... soon I will have blocks of roquefort floating before my minds eye and I will just have to go break the bank on some (as well as brie, cam and all those wonderful cheeses). :rolleyes: You French are awfully insecure about your products. Champagne, Port and now Roquefort. These products should speak for themselves and not require legislation to attract coneseurs. Saying that, I would love to try some genuine roquefort one day. But have always recovered to go on to eat it. Still. Death by roquefort does not sound too terrible to me. It's all about tradition. We believe these products are not only the result of a mix of ingredients, but also the result of a specific part of the country, because of its specific soil and climate. These products have geographical names (Champagne is a region, North East to Paris, Roquefort is a small town in South West of France, and what the heck is 'port'?), it's not a coincidence. Several wines could fit with Roquefort: a white wine from Alsace like a Gewurztraminer or something sweeter like a Sauternes, or a tannic red wine, like a Cahors (not too old) or a Madiran. You'll have to taste all of them. If you want to change for another cheese, we have 400 different ones :) What food product does SA export?
