I'm not really aware of what happened in California, so what I say is more a feeling than a firm opinion: * it's sad that somebody without a real program can be elected just because of his impact on the media. * it's great that somebody who isn't a professional politician for years can be elected.

Popular yes , I like most of his films , but would you really put him in the same acting league as De Niro or Nicholson ? Could he perform on the stage ? Could he astound you with his range like Pacino ?

.. wait until he's actually been in office for a bit and see how he does, before judging on anything. There have been pro football players, actors, wrestlers, businessmen, and ex-KKK in most every position. Previous career has little to do with ability, and the greater variety we have in that regard the better. It concerns me more that we have so many career politicians.

Jeremy Falcon wrote: You obviously know nothing of Arnold’s body building career. Ever hear of the Arnold classic? Do you want to know why he's a famous body builder in the first place? BECAUSE HE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST BODY BUILDERS TO BUILD MUSCLE NATURALLY! While everyone else was pumping Decca et al, he was pumping iron. I started bodybuilding in 1982, followinf it in 1979. Never took drugs, never had the body or a shot of making a career of it. Not jealous of anyone who has made it through bodybuilder. Arnold took drugs, never outright admitted it but in many magazine interviews through the 90's he alluded to it and refused to deny it. Got the Arnold classic due to his enormous profile from 6 straight and 7 total Olympia titles (plus 5 Universes or there abouts) and the fact he made it big in movies (Remember Cactus Jack? Saw it at the drive ins when I was about 10). On top of that Joe Weider (narcissist and IFBB owner) used his name to make even more money. I like this guy in particular, his statue of himself as modelled by Robby Robinson in his hey day. Personally I couldn't give a fuck who was Governor of California, it doesn't affect me here in Sydney. My only question is, can Arnold make movies and Jesse 'The Body' Ventura wrestle while governors of their respective states? erm , yes I had never thought about how many partners Arnie had . It is completely irrelivant . OK , I could not put direct evidence in front of you which would proove he took drugs. Its just that when he had his heart valve operation many surgeons went on record here in the UK saying that the type of damage he had was common in people who had used drugs as part of a body building / weight lifting program . The question I put is how do you think this affects how this changes the perception of the USA in the minds of foriegners. I do not know or care if he is stupid .
I can't prove it, but I bet you any amount of money you looked that up on the Internet, etc. before you replied to this post. Jeremy Falcon

Can you (I still would not say: Are you able to) imagine: A country comes to US and says: Guys, your political system is not good. You do not have enough human rights, your army is too strong armed, you have to do what we say. What would Americans do? Probably they will accept it? No, I think they will not. After that US is bombed. Is it democracy what US offers to the rest of the world? What do you expect to hear from the rest of the world about US?

As I just said to my co-worker, most people spend more time picking out a new TV or computer than they do their elected officials. No difference in California yesterday.

The UN came to Iraq and did everything but the bombing and invading. They condemned Iraq, but did nothing to back up the condemnation. The US backed it up. We will do this to anyone that threatens our livelyhood, and so would you.

I don't think anyones views of California will change, its still just a bunch of nut jobs. Anyway, if anyone judges the US based one state's govenor there pretty much ignoring the majority of the US, especially when California is regarded as the nut job state. Besides, no one said anything when Ventura was elected. Arnold will probably do a better job than him. btw, no one likes trolls (yes I mean you) and wrong forum Matt Newman

A third rate actor , who was a drug taking body builder is elected to high political office. How do you think this affects how the rest of the world views the USA ? Do you care ? Is it any different to Italy electing porn stars ? Space reserved for wit , humour and correct spelling.
Considering a B movie actor was elected fourtieth president, I don't think a single state election is gonna matter.

:cool:The strange guy rules only California. That state is known as "the strange zone" all over the world...

Any idea that is obviously ridiculous and counterproductive will be given free reign there, and any act that you may wish to commit, however harmless, is either illegal or required by law and taxed. Anonymous wrote: But do not forget that US has similar weapons, maybe worse. Can you imagine that some people "will do this to anyone that threatens their livelihood"? The US has been destroying its bio and chemical stockpiles for years. We had so many built up from the Cold War that it takes forever to get rid of all of it. Saddam was deemed a direct threat to us, via his terrorist links with al-queda subgroups. We gave him 14 months to show proof that he had destroyed the weapons the UN told him to destroy after the first Gulf War. Anonymous wrote: That is what I am talking about election winner. Pure power is so close to Americans. Election showed it. The election in California has absolutely nothing to do with American foreign policy. Anonymous wrote: Do you know why US and UK are in Iraq?
