I'm curious about this from the point of view of recent comments on open source, offshore development, "M$", professionalism etc. If your skills as (primarily) a programmer are putting a roof over your head and food in your belly vote 5, if it's a hobby / course of study / pastime etc vote 1.

yes; Since graduating from the amateur ranks, I've been hired by "Programmers On Ice". We will be touring North America in a few weeks to showcase our new mascots, CP Bob, BSD Evil and the Linux Penguin. You should see me doing a double-axel, and a double Lutz, but my spinning is not up to par. ;P

It's a programming 'language' boasting '13 commands' in the entire language- easy to use, a trained monkey could do it... or some such marketing hype. From my observation, it's slower than Java, more bloated than, well, something very bloated, is 'platform independent' so the products that I've seen are highly non standard in interface and intuition. Its multithreading support is either non-existent or our 'magic' programmers don't implement it (cancel's during long jobs either never get processed, or get processed minutes after the button's been hit). It's one of those technologies that I actually don't want to get near for fear it might pass on some disease that will be very hard to get rid of. Paul

Paul

We ran a manufacturing plant with that stuff. Sure don't miss that at all. I seem to remember the propaganda reading something about being a 5GL. :~
