So then what is the problem? You have Mozilla, forget about your troubled youth and enjoy early retirement in the pleasant company of Firebird. Oh wait... VS.NET... those sites that don't work on anything but IE... Outlook and all those other apps that host IE... hmm... bugger. Have a drink, it is friday, forget all your troubles and face them on Monday. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Christopher Duncan quoted: "All Corvettes are red. > Oh wait... VS.NET... those sites that don't work on anything but IE... Outlook and all those other apps that host IE... hmm... bugger. Exactly. :sigh: I thought I'd throw in some hours tomorrow. It seems I'll have my hands full reinstalling Windows XP. > Have a drink, it is friday, forget all your troubles and face them on Monday. I'm sipping some red wine. Very relaxing indeed. It's so relaxing, I had forgotten about IE, until your post/email showed up in my mailbox. :-D -- Seraphim Shock. Gold for your ears.

[edit]I give up. I have no idea what've happened. I suspect VS.NET had something to do with it, because IE stopped working after a programming session the other day. I've had this XP install for 2 years. I guess it's time to reinstall. Anyway, many thanks to you who gave me advice. Much appreciated![/edit] IE 6 has gone insane on me. It can't open anything! If I try to open a HTML page, local or remote - it doesn't matter, it gives me a dialog - do you wish to open or save this document? Of course, I can't access windows update because it only works with IE. :(( I don't want to reinstall everything this weekend. So, please, pretty please, with sugar ontop, help me if you can. :beg: ps. Everything related to IE in anyway is screwed up. VS.NET and MSDN help browser are affected. :(( ds. -- Seraphim Shock. I've heard of this happening recently. Apparently if you run

        regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
        regsvr32 shdocvw.dll

it sorts itself out. Someone claimed it was related to the MDAC security patch that was released this week. [edit] Further information in KB article 281679 - You Cannot Open New Internet Explorer Window or Nothing Happens After You Click a Link[^]. [/edit]

This happens after installing MDAC?!?!? Great. Viva Microsoft. I am thinking of setting up my own Department of Homeland Security and I will raise the level to Orange or Red whenever Microsoft releases an update. :suss:

Now imagine how the guys at the European NASA feel when their Beagle thingy-vehicle disappeared. That's what happens when you load WinXP on a Mars vehicle . And you whine about regsvr-ing two files and not being able to open HTML files. Jörgen, Jörgen ;)

Have you tried reinstalling just Internet Explorer (from your MSDN CD's)?
