Hi, I've just reinstalled my PC and now I want to have all perfect and to install all Windows updates possible. I heard something like "Do not install SP2 from my friends, I have read something about IBM which recommends do not installing of this sp, and so on and so on. In the end I read information on Wupdate pages, they write something like you will have to set something before you can use these (VS.NET 2003, MSDE) programs - I am a complete newbie in programming and using these programs - so, Have you had any problems with this and how did you solve them? Me, personally, I haven't installed any of Windows updates up to now and I was okay, and you?:)

I installed SP2 over a week ago, no problems with anything yet. (VS 2003, Office 2003 both run fine) During the setup process, it asks you if you want to save a backup copy of replaced files to an uninstall folder in case something bad happens. The update took about 25-30 minutes to complete on my machine. (PIII 533) I've already wiped all my uninstall folders so there's no going back for me now. I've never had a single problem with any update. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

Yeah I was wondering about this funny nick too! :) Btw I just finished installing SP2 on my Win XP Home PC with no problems so far (aside from the fact that the installation took 45 minutes to complete). And the new firewall looks great, like a real firewall finally. :) I'll probably install it on my XP Pro in the office in the next week too. Rado

                1. Firewall works for me so far but I didn'r really try it yet. :~ 2. Yes, this is also strange. I have only installed on my XP Home PC at home and it was the first thing that I noticed that during the boot, it only says "Windows XP" not "Windows XP Home Edition" and the progress bar on the splash screen turned blue! It is no longer green. :wtf: Of course, the system properties dialog and the "Windows XP" screensaver both reveal what edition it is. Rado

Zdravim vsechny Cechy a Slovaky!!! And now rather in English :-) I have never met any Czech or Slovak here up to now. For an explanation of this odd username: I study at grammar school and I and my friend write web pages of our class. I don't know his reasons, but he make up this character and it became the "mascot" of our class. When I was looking for some components and controls I found this site. I didn't have any good idea for my nick so I write "chodicimrkev" :) At present I am working on the new webpages in asp.net (www.vilem.tk) and currently I had to reinstall pc. Question for Tomas Petricek (and others): I know, The Lounge isn't for technical questions, but ... How can I write one page, and the content of the page depends on the parametres in URL (as I saw on http://www.eeeksoft.net) Bye
