It's good to see kids turning their minds to wholesum activities such as programming, instead of wasting their lives in the hedonistic disciplines of Sex, Drugs, & Rock & Roll... or Sex with Drugs, or Sex with Rocks while Rolling in Drugs, or whatever new-fangled perversions you little monsters have thought up now... or maybe they just want to protect themselfes from other people patenting this or other parts of OpenGL. Every cpoin has two sides, and a rim.

Actually, I can think of one other reason. It might follow what Apple did with Mac OS X. If I heard right, Apple's OS uses OpenGL to optimize their graphical user interface. MS might do the same thing and probably make a new version of GDI+ (maybe GDI++). It wouldn't be too odd of a guess considering MS did merge Direct3D and DirectDraw together to take advantage of 3D acceleration in 2D drawing. If you would have said 4.5 I would have said "thought so" since it shipped XFree86 3.3.6 by default. 4.6 however ships with XFree84 4 which usually handles newer cards without a problem. I usually install XFree afterwards when I have everything set up as I want (I've been burnt by XFree86 3.x before, so I want a "safe-mode" OS to return to before I screw X up :) Sonorked as well: 100.13197 jorgen FreeBSD is sexy.

But ASP/IIS is not much different from PHP/Apache. Same shit, different names. ;) (I'm not too fond of web development/applications...) ASP.NET is the Web Forms thingie right? If it is, well.. then PHP & Co is a bit behind. But I looked at the html source code which is produced from the form files, it's not very high tech stuff - PHP crowd will catch up sooner or later. (Even I, the web-dead developer I am, pondered on how to realize a web-UI such as that about 1-1½ years ago). What does ASP.NET deliver that is so revolutionary?
