Recently i published an article called A new version of my 3D asteroid game in OpenGL with C# in which i added the shooting feature so the game was a little more interesting than dodging asteroids. And then I suddenly had the idea to make a tower defense game from the asteroid game, imagine it will be on levels after each level you could be able to purchase newer defenses. The game plot could be like starship troopers in which the bugs sent the asteroids to the earth. This will be a perfect mix because on one hand you will have a classic game improved an on the other hand will be a genre that it becoming more an more an alternative to those that are made today with a lot of graphics and zero content.

As I understand you: instead of your ship, you can place and upgrade "defenders" that autofire on asteroids and may have some dodging ability? Sounds like an interesting crossover (don't let Zygna hear that). However, calling Tower Defense games "alternative" is a bit...

Thanks for sharing, I've just sent that idea to our lawyers to get it patented.

But you don't plan to learn C++ first?

Kinda like this[^] perhaps? You're a couple of years too late I'm afraid!

C# has already designed away most of the tedium of C++.

Just like the title says. See here: real pixel coding[^] All of the apps on your page look like the kind of apps for which application execution speed is more important than development time, however I digress. You do indeed appear to have some nice samples there. Visit here if you wanna pick your eyes up off the floor (after they've fallen out) Iñigo Quílez's work[^] I can assure you - they were all programmed in C/C++/ASM Also, look for Farbrausch Debris. 1. I do not downvote except when somebody is really out of line. 2) Your game is very nice. Keep going. But sorry, that's not yet blowing me away. 3) Just for the irony: You know what kind of project I just have open? A nice multiplayer game. The game client uses XNA and my own GUI and graphics engine. At the moment I'm adding more advanced animation to the engine. Have some quick screenshots: Logging in[^] with a corvette flying by. The character creation screen[^] after logging in. In the background a formation of transports and corvettes is returning home. You know what? I need more models. Time to make a larger ship, a fregate.

you know what the game creation process is exhausting, you will never have your game finished, everytime you make some progrees there is something you want to change and improve. And you dont have all the knowledge to get a final product, because of the artwork, the 3 modeling the programming, etc. I am not going to make any game in the future unless someone pay a lot of money.

For now I'm also my own artist. My first 3D models were really bad, but slowly I get at least some results. You must keep going until you have enough to show to get some people interested in what you are doing and then hopefully somebody is able and willing to help. So, what are you doing?

At least artificial intelligence already is superior to natural stupidity

I just said that game programming is a waste of time unless you are a teenager and have plenty of time for doing nothing or you give it 200%. I had got a lot of people interested in my work but when they hit the reality they slowly moved away leaving me along. You want my advice in game programming. Have a great idea outsource it and sell the product. You cant have all what it takes to make a final product it takes a lot of time to learn, A LOT OF TIME. And to you is speaking someone that spent two years developing the Naval battleship game that is in my blog, so i kind of know what i am talking about

Now you sound like some of my bosses. No money to count := wate of time. Case closed. They just forget what they are paying me for and how I got that.

Welcome to the planet Earth. Even pointy haired bosses need a reality check once in a while. In this case it's the simple fact that people generally don't give a fart for your great visions. Pointy Hair's usual response is to bribe people into being interested. :)

                                          Not really :)

Now you are telling me what I can or cannot do? I probably will never find out if I don't try, right? Only Pointy Hairs believe that ignorance somehow becomes a good thing when it saves you hard work, hard learning and sometimes hard lessons.

Ah, I love it when Pointy Hair starts to praise himself and his vast experience: "I used to be a programmer like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee." :) And you, Sir, have been lecturing somebody who has been doing such things when you still existed as a single cell in a liquid emulsion :)
