Cartoon just has too many 'kiddie' influences on it to effectively describe the genre. And yes, Bebop is the shiznit; right up there with Trigun and Vampire Hunter D. :-D James "It is self repeating, of unknown pattern" Data - Star Trek: The Next Generation

Johnson wrote: Bebop is the shiznit; right up there with Trigun and Vampire Hunter D I've seen Trigun for the first time last evening. It's clearly in the same category as Cowboy Bebop, but I would say it's IMHO a little less good: There isn't the beautiful drawing style there's on Bebop, and the music is less impressive :) However characters are interesting and the stories seem good. I don't know Vampire Hunter, but I will look for it, thanks for the tip :)

KaЯl wrote: Hey, give me the correct word instead of bashing only! My bad, I figured you didn't use it because you were explaining what it was :-O Anime is the term I've always used, but some people prefer Japanimation. Then there is Hentai which is "porn" (the leading type of hentai is 'tentacle rape' where monsters rape women, usually with penis shaped tentacles X|) Then there other terms to refer to gay/lesbian hentai, but I forget what those are. KaЯl wrote: There isn't the beautiful drawing style there's on Bebop, and the music is less impressive I'll give you that, it might just be how I ended up watching Bebop as opposed to Trigun in that I had long breaks between episodes of Bebop where-as I watch all of Trigun over a couple nights. I think the story of Trigun is better than Bebop; but my prior reason probably has some influence on that as well. Vampire Hunter D is way different, it is a movie (rather old as well). But it was also the first anime I saw and it hooked me. James "It is self repeating, of unknown pattern" Data - Star Trek: The Next Generation

We use here the generic term of "manga" to cover japanimation, but I wasn't sure the word was international :) James T. Not really original, I know :-D

KaЯl wrote: We use here the generic term of "manga" to cover japanimation, but I wasn't sure the word was international According to the group I was with, manga referred to the books and drawings, while anime/japanimation was the TV episodes/movies. KaЯl wrote: How do you do not to be in love with Faye Valentine? Who said otherwise? :-D KaЯl wrote: My favorite anime movies are still "Ghosts in the Shell" Ahh, thats another good one. For something completely different you could look for "Sakura Diaries", its a bit fucked up (a girl falls in love with her cousin) but was still fun to watch. I didn't get to see all of it, but "Excel Saga" was WAY messed up. There was another one that was making the rounds last summer called "Jungle wa.... " something or other, it was another quirky one. Both of those were fan-subs (ie, someone taped the show as it aired in Japan then subtitled it manually). James "It is self repeating, of unknown pattern" Data - Star Trek: The Next Generation

Jeez, that's stupid. The only time an officer should be able to do that is if the drunk person is causing trouble. Luckily, the police in my town are pretty lenient, I've been caught drinking beer while walking down the sidewalk and all they did was make me pour it out (God, I had to waste good Budweiser!:)). I really like that they are trying to cut down on alcohol related accidents but punishing people for having some harmless fun isn't right. Brad Jennings
