    Correct. I will find out what the conversion is for & Although that looks like homer rubbing his butt on the carpet, so how much beer can Homer drink with $1? :^)

      D + B + C = 160 D = 30 B = C + 100 :=> 30 + (C + 100) + C = 160 2C = 160 - 100 - 30 C = 30 / 2 C = 15

        It depends... if homer has to pay the each beer he drinks, I don't think much. But your statement does not clarify the aspect. If the $1 stays in the pocket because he is getting invited then the answer would probably be "infinite" ;P

          It was so simple I've been reading the question over and over looking for the trick cos I couldn't believe it would have been posted unless there was one.

          Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

            So I came across a very interesting quiz. So lets see who can get this one... I go to a food stall and buy a burger, chips and a cool drink. The drink is $ 0.30 and the burger is & 1.00 more than the chips. So if I paid $ 1.60 for the meal, how much did I pay for the chips? :cool:

                It's 15c (I wish I can buy chips for that!) but there's something about that question that provides a strong urge to say 30c. I've got a very similar question wrong in the past by saying the 'obvious' thing.

                    I have not looked at any of the other comments but my calculation brings the chips to $0.15.

                      G has the cardinal number 50. For the elements g of the set G applies g = 1,00€. The set of production costs (H) is 10(cardinal numbers) less than set G. Draw a figure of the set H as partial set of G und and give the cardinal number of the set E for the Question :

                          Some people think of it like this. $1.60 - $0.30 = $1.30 So if the burger is $1 more the answer is $0.30 because $1.30 - $1 = $0.30 :doh: Sad part is when I asked other people some of them really had that 'logic'...

                                The original question was exactly that. with a bat and ball. So i thought I'd do a social experiment and make it a bit more difficult to see if they fall much easier for a simple or a bit more complex question. :)

                                    What you do not realise is according to the internet 50% of the people at MIT and Harvard got it wrong when asked this If a bat and ball costs $1.10 and the bat is $1 more than the ball, how much does the ball cost? :laugh:

                                        Nothing. Did you see the icon of the message? it was a joke (or at least a try)

                                        M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

                                          The original question was exactly that. with a bat and ball. So i thought I'd do a social experiment and make it a bit more difficult to see if they fall much easier for a simple or a bit more complex question. :)

                                          5 cent for a drink? oO What makes this question so hard is all the time travel involved and not the maths. :rolleyes:
