Global warming, what it actually means

grapes, almonds, peaches? These grown way down south here, around the med. Surely they dont.

Some do. But for the third time, what is your point?

Right, so you are now saying 'some' whereas you first stated 'Fruit trees need a certain amount of cold time to produce fruit well', implying all fruit trees need a cold period. However it is limited to fruit such as apples, pears and plums is it not? And as pointed out varieties of these exist that dont need cold, thus rendering your statement even less valid. The fact is that only some types of certain fruit species need cold.

:omg: OK, I see how this got so far off track. You took that to mean every single fruit tree in existence. No, not what I meant. The simple point is you asked how is less cold bad for life. I gave 2 simple examples. Done.

So as we all know GH gases affect the cold times, and places on the planet. This has been stated by the IPCC and son on many times. Is there any proof of this? https://4k4oijnpiu3l4c3h-zippykid.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/clip_image004-12.jpg[^] A degree C of winter warming, absoloutely no summer warming. What concerns me about climate change, regardless of what you believe to be true or not or it being natural or man-made, is that the focus on carbon dioxide has caused a blind eye to what we do know to be major problems. Back in the 70's, there was a huge push toward littering and dumping of chemicals into our drinking water and oceans. Now, they have taken a back seat. Plastic islands are forming in the pacific, chemicals are still being dumped into the rivers and streams, factories still pump toxins into the atmosphere, and there is still the deforestation of the rain forests in the Amazon. I believe it would be much better if we spent our money and resources solving the problems we can immediately do something about, but I guess there isn't any money in that.

Yes, that is what I read your statement as saying. :) OK, we we have two examples of how cold is bad for life. Now, how many examples of how less cold is better for life. Take fruit damaged by frost. And that is a lot of fruit. Not to mention all kinds of vegetables. Then the shorter growing season caused by cold. Not to mention the greater number of human deaths that occur when it is cold. It is clear the benefits of less cold outweigh the losses.

Yeah, I am 100% with you on this. This obsession with CO2 has actually damaged the environment by letting real pollutants go unchecked. Electronics recycling is a particular issue. Plastics. The filth we dump in the Baltic sea, then turn the resulting toxic eels into salmon food, and then eat.

Yup. What really shocks me is how we are poisoning ourselves everyday and not realizing it. Besides the pollutants, we eat, drink, bathe, and wear toxic chemicals. I watched a really good documentary on this called Stink. The number of carcinogens we take into our body from things we buy is absolutely horrifying. I'm really beginning to wonder if part of the climate change agenda is really to distract away from these other issues. "OMG! The polar ice caps are going to melt and kill everyone in 100 years!" all the while, we are committing ignorant suicide with the products we buy and the trash we dump.

It is, clearly, for the reasons I just gave. Dont you agree?

Nothing in that video mentions let alone refutes what I wrote. Try to come up with something relevant Eddy. Here is more evidence what I am saying is correct. BEST data, Tmax-Tmin is declining. Berkeley Daily Temperature Anomalies | Clive Best[^] Here is GHCN data: GHCN-Daily Temperature Anomaly Results | Clive Best[^] "It is interesting that minimum temperature anomalies have risen faster than maximum anomalies since 1950, yet the inverse was true in the 19th century. That implies that “Global Warming” has mostly occurred at night. " This is physics, this is fact, this is the known and stated effect of CO2. What they dont tell you is that it is perfectly safe, and more than that, beneficial.

There is something very 'anti west' about global warming, but I wouldnt go so far as to say they are trying to cover up carcinogens! :)

True, I was more or less referring to pollutants. The "ignorant suicide" statement was an attempt at irony concerning the whole situation. We are so worried about carbon dioxide yet we drink water out of plastic bottles made from Polyvinyl Chloride.

Yes but you said we got off to a misunderstanding, you didnt mean 'every fruit tree'. So yes, some species of some fruits need a bit of cold. Everything else doesnt. Many prefer a bit of warmth (thats why we have so many greenhouses in temperate zones). Not to mention people, who all prefer a bit of warmth. So I ask again, on average, isnt a bit of less cold better then more cold?

Yeah, the effect of those plastics in our food is quite subtle. They are known to affect male fertility, but what else? Who knows.

The problem is you can't define "a bit." And no, there is not enough understanding to know if it will be better or worse, all around.

A bit? Lets say 2 or 3 degrees less cold (and this is in winter dont forget), is this better or worse in your opinion, experience, for life as a whole?
