Sound of the Week
-
Oleksa Lozowchuk - In the Flood (featuring Ariana Gillis)[^] I've been playing Horizon II: Forbidden West for the past few weeks, the sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn. A Dutch game and one of the most notable PlayStation 5 exclusives. Naturally, I'm also listening to the soundtrack, which is pretty awesome. This track is by one Oleksa Lowozchuk, who is apparently a Canadian, award-winning, composer for film and TV and who has worked with many artists and for clients such as Disney, Netflix and even Apple and Microsoft. Ariana Gillis is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Didn't know either of them before this soundtrack. Most of the Horizon soundtrack was written by Oleksa and Joris de Man and a few songs by Niels van der Leest who used to be my drum teacher. The game itself revolves around Aloy, who is trying to save a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by stone age-like tribes and killer machines. As you go you learn how the world ended, where the machines come from and why they're trying to kill you. Great game, great soundtrack (Aloy's Theme, Built to Kill), SOTW! :D

Lovely haunting song
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!" - Hunter S Thompson - RIP

Very nice. I really want to play FW, but will probably wait for a PC release. The first game is one of my top ten favorites.

Here's some nostalgia for high school band, playing the voice of God: [Peter Steiner - Concert for trombone & piano (Launy Grøndahl)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nTudCqiAoo) [Chicago Symphony Orchestra - Low Brass recording](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpfQQPwCmzc) [CSU Schwob Trombone Ensemble full concert 22 April 2018](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euByaH2Sof0)

Yeah, the first was great! The second is more of the same, so the wow-factor from the first is gone. Still an awesome game, looks amazing too. I quit PC gaming when I moved on my own. I'm already behind my PC during the day, glad to move to the couch in the evening :D Less hassle too, just start the game and it works, unlike PC a lot of the time X| I've basically maxed out my chill skill at the expensive of performance ;p

That's a lot of trombone... Reminded me of this one[^] Nice instrument though, although almost two hours of trombone is a bit much. Always loved this one: Bert Appermont: Colors for Trombone Solo and Band - YouTube[^] I played it way back when I was still in a fanfare orchestra :D

Came across Colors in my perusal. Also fantastic! I'm still in nostalgia mood. Came across this last night: [Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue - Jazzwoche Burghausen](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6HBnrJ0rVg). Absolutely phenomenal! You might like the guitar playing in it - don't know.

Another example of circular breathing: [Wow!](https://youtu.be/G1MbKD1DRwM?t=1381). I don't know if it sounds good to non-players, but I'm blown away by his technique!
