Thanks Annie, I know a little about Sage, & accountants like it because it makes their job easy. But not really any good for simpletons like me! Quicken is probably more my thing - If I ever progress from Excel...

Thanks Rob I wasn't even impressed with Giant's website. So crossed them off the list straight away! I was a contractor many years ago when IR35 first came in. I used Drole at the time, but wanted to know the current state of play was... And all the advice is to go limited, & is what I think I will do! :) Cheers for all the advice!

Thanks digital man, good advice & an interesting article (got my vote!) I didn't realise that there would be a big difference in the take home pay! :(( I've a family friend who is an accountant, so think he will be my next call. - I'll blame you, for me harassing him! However I'm only signing up for a 6 month contact, so is setting up a limited company worth it? What if I don't like it, and want a directly employed job again? I've then got to close the company down & do all the admin. So what sorts of sums difference are we talking based on a contact rate? Hundreds or Thousands?

Hi People, Like I suspect many of you are, I'm stepping out of the safe environment of directly employed. Into the shark infested waters of contracting. And as Krusty the clown would say: "I couldn't help it, they drove a dump truck load of money up to my house!" But obviously with becoming the devil's spawn, I need an umbrella company to work through. So can anyone recommend a good one, as well as ones to steer clear of? I'm currently looking at "Liberty Bishop", & "Giant". But other than judging them on the quality of their website, they don't really tell you much... Any advice would be really appreciated! :-\ Alan

I'm not inferring you are gay, more that your support for Apple appears fanatical... I don't want to install software to copy files & I will not allow any manufacturer force me too. (Not when it is not needed) That is the start & end of the issue for me. P.S. A burnt disc is not as robust, or will last as long as a pressed disc.

Your either incredibly bored, or sucking off Steve Jobs at this very second??? :-D I just want it to plug in, copy, f*uck off out, & play! P.S When I pay for music, I DEMAND a hardcopy - Does iTunes do that?
