They don't seem to understand European cultural, economic, political and scientific superiority per se and would not fall on their knees in front of me and ask me very nicely if I would receive the greencard. I wish they thought about the Europeans as we think about ourselves. So the only choice I have is to try to push for more liberty and human rights (which would beside the homosexual marriage rights include very unpopular right to low taxes) in Europe. And when you try to push for more liberty and freedom for individual in Europe then you realize how lousy the state of our democracies. The situation in Europe is due to "goverment funded critical intelectuals". These are particulary popular in more etatistic and non democratic parts, such as France. The "non-goverment" leftist organisations and institutes, funded from the budget who will do just about everything to keep their funding - they are sort of paid protectors of etatism in Europe - sworn enemies of individual liberty and economic freedom. Remove the AOL adapter. If you have aol 6, go start --> programs --> AOL --> system info tool --> utilities tab --> click on uninstall aol adapter. Then repair IE and if that doesn't work then remove DUN... start AOL and it will reinstall DUN and RAS... that will def fix your problem. There are two speeds involved in using a modem. One is the line speed between modems, the other is the port speed between your PC's serial port and your modem. The top speed for a serial port based on the 16550 UART (most common in PCs) is 115200, which the AOL software reported initially. Depending on the program implementation, it may be adjusting the local port speed to match the line speed. The PC has no way to actually sense the real line speed - it must rely on the modem to tell it via the CONNECT XXXX message when a connection is established, or calculate the effective speed on the fly. Any time you're in doubt, though, set the local port speed higher than the expected line speed to reduce the chance of missed data. If you want to get more info, look at the MSComm control in the VB documentation. I think there's an equivalent in VC++, but I've never located it...
