You have to consider the reason for the existence of that rule. This is a forum aimed at programming and technology that lives on advertising. So it's a bad thing for the long term existence to be associated with trolling and infighting. If you get a lot of trolling/fighting in the forums, it will get shut down. Well, I have done big projects before. I wrote a suite of software for Laundrettes and dry cleaners, incorporating accounting systems etc. The next step is to get 'On Line' and provide our customers with details of their accounts, but, more importantly, to give in good time me and my partner access to the more intimate details of the business from a sunny beach in the bahama's. Once I Discover how to distinguish between the two (Mobile or Computer)at the server end, I can redirect to the appropriate web pages. We have only 20 static ones,Very infrequently updated. not a difficult task to do manually. Scope depends on what declaration you use. The old "var" declaration gives you function scope, where everything in a given function and sub function can refer to that scope (because "this" can mess that up big time, and is likely one of the hardest things to get used to in JS). ES 2016+ introduces the "let" declaration, which has proper block scope. Global scope comes from either declaring a var outside of a function block, or the cleaner approach of attaching it to the window object: var variable = value; window.variable = value; In classically-driven approaches to JS, the window object is effectively the global namespace.
