Hi, could you post the Github repo? I would like to take a look at it. Thanks!

Source code licensingNot to belabor my point...But, no, in the US the old "mail yourself a letter and don't open it" does not work at all...Ever! It is NOT admissible as evidence in court. And the Copyright Office won't accept it either. Just Google on this topic or ask a professional. This myth has been going around and around for decades.
-
Source code licensingGood point. But I doubt the mail it to yourself unopened would work anywhere in the world. And there are the analogs to the US Copyright office in other countries. So best to contact that office/read their website in their own country and see what works and what does not. Thank you for pointing that out.
-
Source code licensingAh...That will not work. Check it on the web. Mailing yourself a copy will not hold up in court. Instead, just register it with the US copyright office. Upload it or send it on CD. Costs $35.00 each time.

Purchasing conditions?Hi, be advised that if a non-compete agreement is too broad that it will not be enforceable in court. So if you do sign it...They will not be able to enforce it.

How to stop spam?I have the same experience. Windows 10 Outlook NEVER properly handles spam. It allows dumb stuff through and filters out emails from people's email addresses that I've authorized/white listed. Fairly worthless spam filtering!

Can You Really Use ASP.NET Core 3.1 to Build Production Web Pages/Apps?Hi, I've been working on a web portal using ASP.NET Core 3.1 and I keep running into weird errors between Identity and EF Core. I've gone through several complete rebuilds and tons of errors and problems. when I build little web apps or separate Identity and EF Core then everything works just dandy. But when I try to bring them all together in a rather large production web app all of a sudden weird bugs crop up. I've read that the Identity and EF Core teams work separately and sometimes there are problems between their releases...So I am wondering: Is ASP.NET Core 3.1 not yet ready for prime time for building web apps? Is there anyone here that is actually using it successfully in a production environment? And if so, are there some tricks/suggestions for doing so? Or should I use Core 2.2? Is that stable enough for production apps? I know that this is a general question without going specifically into the bugs I've encountered. The bugs are many and variable and the code is too large to summarize here. If no one answers this then that will be my answer. If some people do answer but cannot confirm that they are using it in production then that will be my answer as well. And if some people tell me that I should not be using it right now that will be my answer as well. In the other case, if people tell me that this is a known problem then perhaps they will be able to point out a workaround. Else I will have to abandon Identity and EF Core and build my own implementations directly. I've been thinking that I should have done this from the beginning, perhaps using Dapper instead of EF Core. Thanks, - Grant

Albert Einstein needs you to do something...Interestingly enough, I have developed a theory base for this "use case"/situation... It's called Triality Theory and it posits three levels of consciousness... The point is that when you're at a higher level of consciousness/understanding/perception others at lower levels cannot gnarsh/understand/see. Getting from one level to another is a difficult chore/adventure/odyssey... The problem isn't so much as the higher consciousness person getting mad/frustrated/etc but rather the need to develop a common ground so that they meet together and can elevate the lower to the higher level. This has been an historic problem throughout human history. And it is very prevalent in software and software development. Think of you standing high up the side of a mountain...What all can you see? A lot! Now think of a person standing at the base of the mountain, and enshrouded in fog...What can he/she see? Not as much. Now, think of how you can possibly explain your magnificent vista to the lower elevation view person who sees mostly fog? How do you do this? And think about how long it took you to trek up the side of the mountain to your present vantage point. Now think about the guy/gal up above you, much higher up the mountain...What can they see? And what can they see that you cannot? And how much higher you have to trek up the mountain to get to gnarsh/understand/see their view/viewpoint/perspective/understanding? Triality Theory explains this all and how to move upwards efficiently between levels. I am still writing the book but should be finished with it by the end of this year. I have yet to put a website up...It's on my list of things to do. If you are interested in this, just contact me. If there is interest on specifically how to apply this to software and software dev I'd be happy to consider a series of articles here on Code Project to start explaining. - Cary Grant Anderson Note to Future Historians: I think that this was the first mention of Triality Theory on the web...

Used some Lounge based recomendations in the real world!Hi, I used Acronis True Image and encountered a very strange and debilitating problem on my 32 GB super dev PC...Memory use would steadily creep upwards until it hit 100% a few minutes after boot. Then it would sit there for about 20-30 minutes then steadily creep downward. So after every boot it was 30 minutes before I could use the PC. Also, it would do this intermittently during the day. Tried all sorts of things - RAM, new SSD, etc. Lots of ideas on the web but nothing worked until I started one by one uninstalling apps before doing a complete reformat and reload. And it was simply - Uninstall Acronis! The problem went away! And so did my use of Acronics. I use Macrium now and am happy with it and happier with it than when using Acronis. After spending months with this problem and was ready to dump and replace the motherboard...I dumped and will never use Acronis. Months of productivity negatively impacted.

Xamarin => iOS - Do I really need a mac?I got a Mac Mini 2012 for this purpose. Used but works fine with the latest Mac OS. AND...You can put 16 GB of RAM in it! Not quite as powerful as the new ones but much, much more affordable!
-
Do you use Acronis 2018?I've had severe problems with Acronis 2017. RAM usage in my server went to 100% and stayed there for 1/2 hour then slowly went down to normal levels. This occurred after boot then randomly throughout the day. Took me many days to figure this out. I had to uninstall programs one by one to nail it. And it was definitely Acronis. The server is now working perfectly without it. So I do not use it anymore nor will I ever use another one of their products. Thus, I cannot recommend it whatsoever.

Resignation LetterI knew a guy that was an amateur cartoonist. When he resigned he drew up a full page single frame cartoon that showed him pissing on his boss' desk. I think that sent a quite descriptive message about how he felt.... Sorry if this offends anybody. I just thought it was so funny that I should share it here!

I'm a sidetrackerUh...I've been meaning to research procrastination in more depth...But haven't gotten to it yet... I've been planning to go to a Proscrastinaters Anonymous meeting...But I just haven't gotten around to it yet... I'm a workaholic and I'm working very hard to cure myself...

What is so bad/wrong/terrible about Windows 8.1?Ok, so the bottom line with me is that I have a Windows 8/8.1 tablet computer (Acer R7). Love the computer HATE the OS. Why? It locks regularly and maybe unfreezes after 15 minutes. Else a hard boot. The file system operations sloooooooow down massively for unknown reasons. I have to reboot it once or twice a day to "fix" it. Software updates are fairly regularly via Windows Update but routinely involve 1 GB+ file package sizes. I regret having Windows 8 on my PC. I upgraded to 8.1 and still have these problems. I would dearly love to downgrade to Windows 7 for stability reasons but that's a complete reload and I have to use old drivers from other machines that may or may not work. Bottom Line: Avoid Windows 8.1 unless you need touch screen support or specifically need 8.1. Use good old reliable Windows 7 instead. And if you must use 8.1 get Stardock's Start8 for the Start Button bring back. - Grant

Code for fun (hobby)What if Einstein lived a balanced life? Would he have bothered with any equations or theories? To be good at something you have to concentrate and work hard on it. To be great at something you have to work very, very hard. Thus, somethings else have to be ignored or minimized. Olympic athletes are great. And they don't really do anything else besides practice all of the time. I've never met a really great coder/programmer/developer who did not spend more than "balanced" time getting there. But for other people, who don't care about greatness, then a balanced life is great for them. But don't equate "balanced life" with greatness. There is no such thing. - Grant

Given an opportunity to develop a new application, what technology would you select for the UI?There's some good suggestions here. But WPF is dead. Check the web about this. Microsoft has abandoned it so spending a lot of time learning it would be doubly worthless. My advice is to use Winforms where you need a lot of GUI interaction and flexibility and/or where you want to develop an app faster than on the web. Else use the web for anything simple or mobile. - Grant

Teaching the horse not to eatWhere can anyone point to the fantastic results of Microsoft's R&D? Where are the wonderful new technologies, solutions, and products that have come from Microsoft that last several years? ....... Why the new XYZ language that Microsoft R&D spearheaded is just fantastic! It puts all other programming languages to shame! And it's taking the programming world by storm! And their new operating system, Windows That Work, is a whole new generation and wonderful paradigm that sets the standard for the new generation of operating systems! And their new tablet! It's wonderful! It redefines computer use for the 21st century! They just can't make enough of them! And the BrowserX project! It replaced old fashioned HTML and CSS with their new XYZ language blows away the old web browsers and replaces it with a stunning and intuitive new application experience that is seamless across their new OS and the Internet! What a tour de force! ....... Oops! Wrong part of the multiverse! Here Microsoft failed and was quickly forgotten. The discontinuance of R&D was just one of the milestones on its way to its inglorious end. - Grant
