I don't mind ironing, which is lucky as after my wife had an accident and ended up having her right wrist fused around 10 years ago I have to do all of it around here. Mate of mine finds it really relaxing. He works away during the week, and when home likes to spend Saturday morning doing some ironing and watching sport. If there is no ironing to do he cannot fully relax that weekend.

I doubt very much if the police would be interested. Particularly as I haven't actually been scammed. It is annoying me that Gumtree have no way (that I can find) of reporting dodgy buyers, only of reporting dodgy ads.

My daughter upgraded her phone last week. I put her old one (iPhone 7) on Gumtree. Got a couple of responses, one that asked for a few more photos by email. I sent them. They replied saying they would take it, could I post it, could I give them a quote including postage. I worked out the postage cost, sent the final price, they agreed and said they would send the money by PayPal. I got an email from PayPal, a nicely laid out invoice, saying that the money had been sent but wouldn't be released to me until I had provided the tracking code from posting the item. I looked, couldn't work out how to provide the tracking code other than by email, checked the email address I had received it from, the display may have said paypal, but the address underneath most certainly wasn't. Quickly worked out the whole thing was a scam. They've emailed today asking if I have posted the phone yet and asking for the tracking code. So, what should I do next? I know the address they want something sent to, I'm quite prepared to pay £7.40 sending them something. Any ideas?

We have a system, let us call it Brian. Brian has a Windows service that communicates between two other systems, let us call them Emma and Jim. This service that is part of Brian has been called EmmaJim. EmmaJim fell over today, an incident was raised, the problem was resolved. I am responsible for Jim, Jim is my baby, I suddenly realised when I saw the incident report, the genius that the name EmmaJim was for the developers of Brian, and mentioned this to them. All anyone knew at this point was that data was not getting to Emma, and when they get told that EmmaJim had caused a problem they would assume it was either Emma or Jim that was an issue and ignore Brian completely. Sure enough, a resolution notice went around minutes later "An issue was identified with a service within Jim".

When I posted earlier in the week for the first time this year I was going to make a comment about how my only messages since 2016 had been about MQOTD, but then I couldn't see any for a few days and didn't like to mention it unless their demise had been for some unfortunate or unpleasant reason.

She'd found a long dormant (about 4 years) script and used that. Not really her fault, it certainly shouldn't have been sitting around where someone could run it, but I still don't understand how she managed to find it and think it would do what she wanted. First time she deployed something to QA she managed to kill that environment with a bug, everything unresponsive about 10 minutes after she deployed. I never did let her get near production.

I think murder victim in Death in Paradise must be one of the greatest acting job for British actors at the moment. They fly you out, you get bumped off in the first couple of scenes, then you have to sit around in a fully funded Carrbiean hotel until the rest of the episode has been shot, then they fly you home. Like I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, if you aware if the show. Stars get flown out to Australia, the one voted out first then has to live in the 5 star hotel for the next couple of weeks waiting for the rest of them to leave. Losing on that show is winning if you ask me.

Happy 2019 everyone (this being my second post of this year (equally my tally for last)). Anyone got any experience of living and / or working in Riga? Specifically living / working there as a middle aged Englishman who doesn't really enjoy the interaction with humans, although anything is welcome.

A few months ago a new consultant attempted to deploy a change she had made to a component to our dev environment. She did that successfully. However, all other components were deleted in the process. Took about an hour of running various Jenkins jobs to get it back again.
