Thanks for the response. Thought there may be a small catch to their plan but wanted to check before crushing their dreams. Nicely of course

  • Beginning Freelancing Coding

Without years of experience. A friend of mine (Called Clark Kent for the purposes of this post) wishes to work in arts (drawing and painting) instead of IT but doesn't want to waste an IT degree. To relieve them of the moral quandary that comes from the thought of wasting four years at university and starting another degree/wiling away ones days in the sun with the odd spot of drawing, freelancing was suggested. How would someone get into freelancing C# coding without years of experience and numerous contacts? Alternatively, do part time coding jobs exist? I've seen the odd contract jobs, but never any part time ones advertised.

Governments tend to be big buyers, harassing them is never wise unless you can dictate terms. If a few big companies had independently decided to slam the USA government (which by supporting Wikileaks they would be doing), then best outcome they're going to lose customers. Worst outcome they're seen as unpatriotic and they lose enough customers to go out of business. Kent Sharkey wrote: Microsoft is still supporting the Heartland Institute That one's easier, if MSFT decided to start discriminating about exactly which non-profits had access to their software then there would be a lawsuit in the courts tomorrow morning and a non-profit would be making a tidy profit this year. They're losing ground to Apple too, so being seen as even more evil is probably something they'd like to avoid.

I'd agree with that, the amount of time I've wasted on the internet, in forums, wikipedia, etc. Most information now seems to leave me as soon as it can. Whereas if I read a physical book it sits around a moment longer. Not much longer mind, usually just enough to help.

Well she can do that in Aus. No law is legal unless it's signed by the Queen, or the Attorney General who is a representative of the Queen. Also the dissolving parliament thing. Figured if she could do that then she should be able to pass a law of her own. Monarchy is a good system, if it's wielded correctly. But in this case it's just a nuisance. A figurehead who remains in charge of the most powerful rights is a bad thing. imo of course

First part was sarcasm, second part was a mistake on my part. It was passed by the House of Commons in '05. Although the Queen technically has the power to do whatever she wants. The whole "Queen" thing.

I think I just found someone more bored than I am. :D Although in my defense, I wanted to read the World of Watches series, so learning Russian was a good idea. The whiskey had nothing to do with it. Latin is fun though, you get to read Naturalis Historia in the original Latin. Useless really, but cool at nerd parties. Pig Latin isn't Latin though, just gibberish that makes a little bit of sense. Like English.

o.0 A bunch of nerds, most of them English, interested in dog handling? I really can't see that working. Ever since the Queen banned fox hunting there's really no reason to get a dog.

I can support a computer that's taken care of with ease. Anything that's hit repeatedly till it fails is no fun working on, whether it's a computer, automobile or garden in my current line of work. Also turns out I enjoy coding and working with tech when it's not someone elses piece of junk. ;P

Wrong forum, there's a special one for trolls. 360 really is a valid trick, albeit I've seen some different slang for it. Hang ten.. That I'll give, but you're just what is known as a "killjoy". Grow a sense of humor and this becomes much easier to bear.

You'd be surprised and shocked, or greatly amused depending on personality type, to learn that the majority of hardware has hardcoded passwords and a simple reset command you can remotely send, with hardcoded ports that are hardcodded open. I was in an I.T. Security course for 2 years, I find out news like this. I quit and am now happily in Conservation and Land Mangement. ;P

Also, what were you doing at the time of the error? Only BSOD I've had in my computing life on my computer which I take care of is when WMP tried to rip a cd whose audio track had a video in it. All on the same track. Video to mp3 didn't work so well. ;P

Not entirely. :P Some worms though.. I've always had a fascination with viruses, some are almost genius level pieces of code. But yesterdays genius is todays normality is tomorrow's basic prerequisite. And worms can be quite capable of getting past your router. But still not useless, that I agree with. lol
