To be able to use Sharepoints Workflow tools, etc for any changes made by users. An approval process before it goes live. This is one the requirements as well to have all existing sites we have built to be imported into the corporate sharepoint instance. So whether i have a list or not, any user should be able to make modifications to the site...without directly going into the database to make changes.

I guess what I was trying to get at was after I import my ASP.net site to Sharepoint 2010, I would like the appropriate users to be able to make modifications themselves to the content, etc. If I am still pointed to an external database and have not created lists using BDC the wouldn't be able to modify the content (users who don't have permissions to the database). The only option would be to import the site and create the lists using BDC. But at that point would I have to go back to all my .net pages to have them read from those lists and not directly the database?

True. I was trying to find out what other options are available. Also, there are sites where you can give your original email addr and it returns back 10 or 20 email addresses that you can now use. If the voting system now sends an email to those email ids with a link to click to confirm , all emails are routed to their original email address and thus they have access to all the emails. Is anyone aware of such sites? Any names of these sites?

What is a good functionality to build to restrict people (the general public) from voting multiple times? I am still unclear of how the estimation works....in waterfall method each areas of expertise has already estimated ($$) the project after the business is awarded the team begins the work and after the project is completed we can view if our estimate was off. With SCRUM I understand the SCRUM Team will estimate the hours for the tasks selected for that sprint. But what about estimating the entire project as a whole. Customer would definitely want to see numbers before the project is awarded.

Need help understanding....when SCRUM teams are set up? Once a project proposal has been accepted by the client, is this when the SCRUM team is put together and who is responsible for putting the team together? In the waterfall method, there is project scope (initiated by client) or we propose a concept, here we have the requirements phase and the necessary technical team help set the requirements and tool used....the proposal gets estimated ($$) by appropriate team members and if approved by client....development begins. How does SCRUM fit into all of this? Do we simply gather vague requirements from client and build SCRUM Team who then will clarify the requirements by defining how and what tools will be used, etc.?? How do projects get estimated in SCRUM before development begins?

What are industry standards on customizing a product to fit your needs, such as aspdotnetstorefront? Changes may include source code change, database structure changes, etc. When there is any upgrade to the product, it should be smooth process w/o loosing the customizations.

How to choose a standard open-source CMS tool that can work across the various different projects we may get? The sites can vary from a microsite (with a contact-us) to sites with complex business logic with forms, reports, etc. In other words lot of customization for particular customer. A CMS tool where multiple developers can work together.
