Try BugTracker.net[^] I have used it for a couple of trackers now and I am very pleased with it. Haven't tried the source control integration so ymmv. DR

We're 10 years old!Chris, How strange/karmic, today is my tenth anniversary where I work. I got a $1000 and a cool telescope, what did you get Chris? I must say though, that CodeProject has been instrumental in my success here, so kudos and thanks for the great site. May we both continue to prosper and thrive. Digital Racer

Recommendations for gaming laptop? My wife and I do alot of World of Warcraft and over the past several years have bought a number of laptops that we could play on while we languish in the living room and play wireless. I got her an Asus A8JS (can't remember the exact model) and while it was fast, the hinges on the lid broke after 6 months. This was my first foray away from Dell and my last. My two Dells, a 1520 and an XPS 1530, were specified with 4MB ram, 80MB HD, the fastest cpu and the best Nvidia gpu that was offered. And they rail. I had the 1520 about two days and it died and to Dell's credit they had someone out the next day to replace the motherboard. The XPS came in around $1500 so it is a little beyond your price target but worth it. The 15" screen is plenty big and we get 60fps almost all the time. Since laptops are almost impossible to upgrade the graphics, make sure you don't skip there. You must get a dedicated GPU to get any performance. Next, go for an XGA display, and then the best Intel cpu you can afford. You can upgrade most everything else later. These are just my opinions after 20 years of building, fixing, and programming pc's, ymmv. DR ooo, almost forgot, an excellent source for laptops is http://www.notebookreview.com

Time Warner (something else) [modified]from my other post: Good luck! I signed up for TW Cable internet at the extreme (?) speed of 10Mbs. When I called them out to fix it cause I was only getting 5Mbps it took three days, six technicians and the use of MY laptop constantly running tests against speekeasy.net to get the speed correct. After all that, I was setup to play my WoW character, after about 45 minutes the signal dropped long enough for me to lose connection with the server. Thankfully I never canceled my 3Mbps verizon DSL which is stone reliable and plays WoW just as fast as the TW 10Mbps (60fps and 110ms ping). I finally chucked that cable modem through the local TW office window (I wish) and am waiting for FIOS to arrive on my street in Ventura County. DR

Open source bug trackingCan any of these open source solutions be configured to work as a workflow (ECO) system as well as a bug tracker? Right now we are using Problem Tracker (Problem Crapper) for both and think we can do better. Jira has been suggested but I would like to offer up some open source products. Cheerio, DR

VS2008 alongside VS2005?That's a nice dream, perhaps, someday, it will be a reality. Actually, you see, we are here to make money for IT so they can sit in their little server room, playing music, games and talking to their friends and side job clients through IM and their cell phones. I better send this quick before the cut off my internet access....

VS2008 alongside VS2005?But if your target is only .Net 2.0 capable it would still be nice to use some of the Class Diagramming tools for C++ that are (allegedly) in VS2008 DR -- modified at 16:08 Tuesday 20th November, 2007 BTW can someone verify that the class tools work on unmanaged C++?

Less talkie, more workie! When I met my wife some 20 years ago, she carried cards around in her wallet that said "Your story has touched my heart, never before have I come across a person with more trouble than you. My heart bleeds for you. Please accept this card as a token of my sympathy. Now f*** off and annoy someone else." I found a sample at: http://www.strangecosmos.com/content/item/102480.html[^] My apologies if this annoys somebody (not really) DR

How to speed up my XP notebookGo to Start|Run, type "msconfig" in the box and press "Enter". Go to the "Startup" tab and search online for every item listed in the "Startup" tab and deselect everything you possibly can. Navigate to the "Services" tab and do the same thing. Uninstall all unnecessary programs, install an anti-spyware utility (I like Zero Spyware but YMMV), make sure your anti-virus software is up to date, make sure you have 25% disk remaining, defragment, check your Event Viewer and clean it out and then check it often. Turn off auto updating of all software (MS, Norton, etc.) and make sure you make it part of your weekly routine to manually update. I recently went through this song and dance on my Dell 8250 with XP Pro and 512MB of memory and was able to claim some performance back (make it usable). Good luck, DR

PS3 or Wii ?For me (the wife actually) it's all about Zelda. If Zelda was on a different platform then I'd be buying that system. They managed to upgrade Mario and keep it interesting also. DigitalRacer
