C# or Java? huh .. I didn't even really consider either of those two -- Learning Java would teach him OOP better and sooner .. C# perhaps (I could send him a copy of VS.NET beta 2 to work with). A few people told me that "Deitel & Deitel C++ How to program" was good for beginners -- but I looked at Amazon and everybody said it was horrible for beginners. Hmmm, I'm doing a lot of research on the .NET vs. J2EE. I'm looking at building webservices and know C++ and Java but not much of C# yet. I building some simple things in J2EE but Microsoft just simply has the best tools (in this case Visual Studio .NET). However, I did find www.jcreator.com which is really similar to VS IDE. To be honest, I've spent time in both the States and in Europe .. and from my experience it seems as though Europeans are more mature than most Americans. The drinking age is lower because they can handle themselves (in general). I live in Germany and there are more pubs downtown than anything else, everybodies getting drunk and there's barely any DUI's here .. in fact the only problems occur from the military people -- not the Germans. I believe NuMega has only made a Windows version of it (well, DOS also) .. and it runs behind the OS allowing you to stop the OS cold when cracking -- I mean debugging software (Device driver peoples are the prime users of the tool).
