Kaspersky! One big thing: Kaspersky doesn't seem to have allegiance to Microsoft or any other companies. A full system scan actually shocked me by reporting all the problems with standard software from all the large software houses. Too, even though I only use the AntiVirus version (instead of the more-comprehensive Internet Security version), I have been warned about Internet sites far more often and feel I have much more browser protection than Symantec Internet Security would ever catch. I also think it runs faster than anything I've used. Friends that have used just about everything are quite happy with Kaspersky. No, I don't know if it's the best and I've certainly performed no testing but I am firmly in their corner. Thats my two cents. jimbo

How much of what kind of data? If you have a very simple set of tables with small quantities of data then SQLite is ok. It is certainly small and easy to install :) For anything remotely sophisticated use Postgres.

It is price. I don't have the Pound sign on my laptop keyboard. I have decided instead to go for a custom-built desktop. All of today's laptops don't come with a serial port which I need to interact with external hardware and other gadgets that I am building and hope to build. :cool: I am the handsome one in the crowd.
